C4C (Children for Christ) meets this morning on 3rd floor. Children 3 years old-PreKindergarten will be dismissed during the service.  Visitors are also welcome!  Parents may pick up their child after the service. Today’s leaders are Nia Hoekstra and Katie Escoto.

We invite visitors and members of the congregation to a Fellowship Coffee downstairs after the morning worship service.

Church School classes will meet from 10:50-11:35 a.m.

There will be a Council Chat at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary.

At 6:00 p.m. we will join First CRC and Faith CRC at First CRC.  Pastor Paul Bradford will preach on 1 Peter 4:7-11, Living With Urgency.

NEXT SUNDAY:  At 6:00 p.m. at our joint evening service, a group of singers and musicians from local churches will be putting on a Good Friday/Easter program entitled “At the Cross”.  The presentation will include dramatic readings and songs.  Levi Nieuwsma from Pella II is one of the singers in the program.  The presentation will be held right here at Pella II.  Join us for this meaningful way to begin Holy Week together.

PELLA II JOB OPENING: We are looking for a part time Assistant Secretary who can learn Ruth Van Hal’s secretarial job and serve as a backup when Ruth is on vacation or unavailable. In addition to serving as a backup to Ruth, the assistant will help Ruth as needed, and handle tasks that are more technologically intensive. Once cross training with Ruth is complete, the job could be 4-8 hours per week, based on need, with up to 18 hours for weeks when Ruth is not in the office. Applicants need to be competent in using Microsoft Word, and be comfortable learning new programs and skills on the computer. Basic accounting skills and/or knowledge of Quickbooks would be a plus, but not required. A GRAND DAY:  Grandparents and Special Friends of Pella Christian Grade School students are invited to “A Grand Day” this Friday, April 12.  The morning will begin at 8:35 a.m. with a chapel of praise and worship.  Building project update will be presented.  After the chapel program will be time to visit classrooms from approximately 9:20 a.m. until lunch is served.  Grandparents are invited to stay for lunch.  Lunch menu includes ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, dinner roll, applesauce, cookie and milk.  Lunch will be served out of the lunch area with seating in both gyms.  Classes will be dismissed in grade order starting with kindergarten at 11:20 a.m. and ending with eighth grade.  Regular classes will resume for students following scheduled lunch breaks.  The remainder of the day will be used as a snow make-up day. Classes dismiss for the day at the normal 3:30 p.m. time.

The evening before, Thursday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m., the 3rd-5th grade students will  perform the musical “Old Testament Fast Forward” at Pella Christian High School.  Please join us as we “fast forward” through the Old Testament, discovering, as the Israelites did, that God’s story is a pretty amazing one to live in!  Hope to see you all there!

PELLA CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL DINNER THEATRE GALA:  Please join us for our Mystery Dinner Theatre event, “Hawaiian Heist” at PCHS this Saturday, April 13, at 6:00 p.m.  An entertaining evening and scrumptious meal are being planned.  Feel free to dress casually and wear your tropical shirt if you have one!  This is our annual fundraiser used to keep tuition affordable. Call the school office at 628-4440 by noon Monday, April 8, to reserve a spot for a delicious meal and a casual, fun-filled evening.

MAUNDY THURSDAY, April 18 at 7:00 p.m., Faith, Pella I and Pella II will join together at Faith CRC to remember the Lord’s final supper with his disciples.  The service will focus on the upper room – Jesus washing his disciples’ feet, the new command that he gave and the Lord’s Supper.  We’ll celebrate the Lord’s Supper together.

GOOD FRIDAY, April 19, at 7:00 p.m., Pella II will hold our traditional Good Friday service, including celebrating the Lord’s Supper, in our sanctuary.  Join us as we meditate upon our Lord’s death for our salvation.

TULIP TIME PARKING VOLUNTEERS:  We need your help covering parking shifts during Tulip Time.  Sign-up sheets are downstairs. Three shift options on Thursday, Friday and Saturday include 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., and 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.  THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your assistance!

     Gene Van Wyk Memorial Run/Walk:  Join the fun and be part of the 12th annual Gene Van Wyk 5k Run, April 20.  All proceeds from the run go towards the Gene Van Wyk Memorial Fund and the Gene Van Wyk Weight Room at Pella Christian High School.  Registration costs are $15 for students, $20 for adults, and $70 for families if you register by April 8.  Fees increase by $5 per event after that date.  Register online at www.genevanwyk.com or pick up a form at the high school office or at Home Realty located at 1212 Washington Street in Pella.

Drive 4UR School Event:  Pella Christian High and Ulrich Ford are once again teaming up to “Drive 4UR School” Saturday, April 20.  This spring the baseball, girls’ basketball and boys’ soccer teams will be receiving the funding.  This has been a successful fundraising event for us in the past.  The school receives $20 per test drive between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on the 20th and an extra $10 if you take another test drive in the new Edge.  You may designate what program you would like to support.  Come and test drive a new Ford vehicle and support PCHS in the process!

PCHS Society Meeting on Thursday, April 25.  This year’s society meeting will be preceded at 6:00 p.m. with a free pork dinner served by the FFA Club and the Ag Advisory Committee.  The Society Meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. with reports on the recent strategic planning initiative, current financial status of the school, the upcoming Spanish Immersion program opportunity, and proposed board governance changes.

Hear about what God has been doing at Iowa State University through Areopagus and director Tyler Helfers as well as our vision for the future of the ministry. Our Spring Banquet will be held on Friday, April 26, at 6:00 p.m. at First CRC in Oskaloosa. A BBQ meal from Pastor Jon Spronk and the Areopagus board will precede the program, and there will be an opportunity to partner financially with us in the ongoing work of the ministry. Save the Date:  The Heartland Gospel Hymn Sing will be Saturday, June 15, at 6:00 p.m. at the First Reformed Church.  A time of singing the faithful hymns of the church.

DO YOU NEED A DATE NIGHT? Who better to watch your kids than a group of moms?!  The local MOPS/MOMSnext group is hosting a fundraiser event this Friday, April 12, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Federated Fellowship.  We will provide a fun evening with games and snacks for your little ones (ages 6 weeks to 12 years) while you enjoy some alone time.  Cost will be $15 per child ($10 per child after your first three kids!).  Email mopsofpella@gmail.com by Monday, April 8, to sign up!
