At 6:00 p.m. we will join Connect Church (formerly First CRC) and Faith CRC at Faith CRC for worship.  Pastor Brad Meinders will preach on the Ninth Commandment, You shall not bear false witness.

NEXT SUNDAY:  Next Sunday morning Cory Nikkel will be preaching at our worship service.

At 6:00 p.m. we will join Connect Church (formerly First CRC) and Faith CRC at Faith CRC for worship. Pastor Ryan Faber will preach on the Tenth Commandment, You shall not covet.  You are invited to an ice cream social in the Fellowship Hall of Faith CRC after the joint evening service on August 25.  You will have an opportunity to meet Raul and Adrianna Herrera and learn more about their work at the Nehemiah Center in Nicaragua.

OUR CHURCH FAMILY:  We wish a happy birthday to Hermina Stursma who will celebrate her 86th birthday on August 19, to Ed Uitermarkt who will celebrate his 88th birthday on August 20, and to Ken Van Gent who will celebrate his 88th birthday on August 24, and pray for God’s continued blessings.

Adult Choir will resume weekly Wednesday rehearsals on August 28, 7:00-8:30 p.m.  If you haven’t sung with us before (or recently) but are considering, please join us!  See Barbara Boertje DeVries or any Choir member for encouragement!

CHILDCARE NEED:  Adult Choir rehearsals resume next Wednesday, August 28. ADVANCE NOTICES:

Plan to spend your Labor Day morning here at church for our Family Fun Fest!  We will have inflatables, mini golf, a race track, lawn games and snacks from 10:00-noon to kick off our youth programs and invite other kids in the community to join us, too.  Please invite your friends and neighbors to come have fun with us on Monday morning, September 2.

Peoria Christian School is participating in a Culver’s Fundraiser Monday, August 26, from 5:00-8:00 p.m.  Please stop by Culver’s Restaurant — 10% of the proceeds will go towards our school.  Our 5th-8th grade students will be there to help serve your food.

Pella MOPS/MOMSnext Open House is for any Mom!  Open house will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 6:00-8:00 p.m., in the large front meeting room of the Pella Library.  Learn about our group, meet members, and join if interested! Light refreshments will be served.  Kids are welcome to attend.  The purpose of the group is to provide moms much-needed “me” time to grow as women, mothers and sisters in Christ.  Email mopsofpella@gmail.com with questions.  We hope to see you there!

On September 12, Bible League Volunteers host a retreat for you called
His Plan…Our Purpose”.  You will be enriched with spiritual encouragement, joyful fellowship and musical worship.  To give you an opportunity to partner in providing Scripture engagement around the world, an offering will be taken for Bible League International ministry.  Registration brochures are available on the table in the narthex.

Ride for LIFE 2019 – Get ready to enjoy a Saturday morning cruise on Saturday, September 21, joining other motorcycle and car enthusiasts to raise money for Pathways of Pella.  Registrations begin at 8:30 a.m.  Riders and drivers will depart at 10:00 a.m. from the United Methodist Church parking lot located at 1414 University Street in Pella.  There will be a lunch stop at the Lake Ahquabi Beach Shelter House mid-way through the ride (located just outside of Indianola). This meal is free for all registered riders/passengers. DO YOU ENJOY READING BOOKS TO CHILDREN?  Would you have about 40 minutes of volunteer time during the lunch hour (11:20-12:00) on Tuesdays to read to a first or second grade student and thus help with the mission of Pella Christian Grade School?  Then “Power Read” is for you. We meet in the Legacy Gym with 10-12 adults and 10-12 young children.  Each child will be paired with an adult mentor for the year.  Books are provided.  Contact Lois Van Houwelingen at 628-4680 or 780-7415 (cell).  We’d love to have you join us.

PATHWAYS OF PELLA 5K RUN/WALK FOR LIFE is August 24, starting at 8:00 a.m. at Pella Christian High.  Registration fee is $30.00.  Register at our website (pathwayspella.org).
