OUR CHURCH FAMILY:  We wish a happy birthday to Ken Van Gent who will celebrate his 89th birthday on August 24, and to JoAnn Boot who will celebrate her 83rd birthday on August 29, and pray for God’s blessings on each of them.

MONDAY:  Our bi-monthly congregational prayer meeting is tomorrow, August 24 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.  Weather and construction permitting, we will meet on our new building site.  Bring your own lawn chair.  We will put our chairs on the slab in what will be our new worship center, sitting six feet apart.  If needed we’ll meet at our existing building in the fellowship hall.  An update will go out on One Call on Monday morning confirming where we’ll meet.

ADULT CHOIR and anyone interested in singing with us:  We will practice this Wednesday, August 26, 7:00-8:30 p.m. Please contact Barbara Boertje (worship@pella2crc.org) for more information.

PARENTS:  A live video with audio of our service is being projected on a large screen TV in the Fellowship Hall in the basement.  If you have a restless child or an infant who needs attention, please feel free to go downstairs.  You’ll be able to watch and hear everything that’s happening in the Worship Center.  Even if you’re not a parent and just need to move around, you are welcome to come down and watch as well.

POTENTIAL CADETS!  Do you  know any boys between 2nd and 8th grade who would enjoy Cadets?  If so, the Cadets are preparing for another fun year and we encourage you to  invite them to join us!  Our program runs from September to March and our meetings are on Wednesday nights from 7:00-8:30.  Please contact Jon Yoder or any other counselor with questions or to get a boy signed up!

CHURCH SCHOOL:  Tentatively we are planning to begin Church School on September 27 from 10:45-11:05 a.m.  We are taking special precautions to make sure children and teachers maintain adequate social distancing.

CHURCH  PICNIC:  The annual church picnic is being planned for September 20 at Caldwell Park.  More details will follow.

PELLA CORPORATION MATCHING GIFTS:  Pella Corporation’s Rolscreen Foundation has approved our building project as a qualified matching gift program for employees and retirees!  Gifts given between June 9, 2020, and June 9, 2023, will be eligible.  Please contact Corey Magnussen for additional information.

AT-HOME FAITH FORMATION TIP – Something to think about this week:  “We need help setting aside all the doing that we clutch so tightly, so that our hands can be open to receive the gifts God has in store…We need time to be.  Time to reflect… Time to draw close to a God who revealed God’s own name, which turns out not to have anything to do with doing, but everything to do with being:  I Am Who I Am.” – from a blog post titled “When Doing More Isn’t Enough” by Austin Crenshaw Shelley
