At 6:00 p.m. we will join Connect Church (formerly First CRC) and Faith CRC at Faith CRC for worship. Pastor Ryan Faber will preach on the Tenth Commandment, You shall not covet.  You are invited to an ice cream social in the Fellowship Hall of Faith CRC after the joint evening service.  You will have an opportunity to meet Raul and Adrianna Herrera and learn more about their work at the Nehemiah Center in Nicaragua.

NEXT SUNDAY:  At 6:00 p.m. we will join Connect Church (formerly First CRC) and Faith CRC at Faith CRC for worship.  Al Bandstra will preach on The Great Commandment.

OUR CHURCH FAMILY: We extend our Christian sympathy to Jeff and Teri Van Kooten and Ray and Lois Klyn on the death of Gary Van Kooten, father of Jeff and brother of Lois, on August 18.  May God comfort them with the hope of eternal life in Jesus our Lord.

We wish a happy birthday to JoAnn Boot who will celebrate her 82nd birthday on August 29, and pray for God’s continued blessings.

FROM COUNCIL:  The Council is requesting the congregation to submit nominations for elders and deacons for the next Council term.  Names can be given to any Council member.

CHILDCARE NEED:  Adult Choir rehearsals resume this Wednesday, August 28. Register today to be blessed at the Bible League Volunteer sponsored retreat “His Plan…Our Purpose” on Thursday September 12.  Key note speaker, Pam Schram will speak in all sessions encouraging and inspiring you; ministry leader, Nervana will be visiting from Egypt to share how God is moving in the hearts of people as she ministers among Muslims there; you will be led in worship with Deb Bruxvoort and Bonnie Vander Weerdt, and you will adore the special music by flautist Julia Vander Wal.  Registrations are on the table in the narthex.

Ride for LIFE 2019 – Get ready to enjoy a Saturday morning cruise on Saturday, September 21, joining other motorcycle and car enthusiasts to raise money for Pathways of Pella.  Registrations begin at 8:30 a.m.  Riders and drivers will depart at 10:00 a.m. from the United Methodist Church parking lot located at 1414 University Street in Pella.  There will be a lunch stop at the Lake Ahquabi Beach Shelter House mid-way through the ride (located just outside of Indianola). This meal is free for all registered riders/passengers. PEORIA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL is participating in a Culver’s Fundraiser Monday, August 26, from 5:00-8:00 p.m.  Please stop by Culver’s Restaurant — 10% of the proceeds will go towards our school.  Our 5th-8th grade students will be there to help serve your food.

PELLA MOPS/MOMSNext OPEN HOUSE is for any Mom!  Open house will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 6:00-8:00 p.m., in the large front meeting room of the Pella Library.  Learn about our group, meet members, and join if interested! Light refreshments will be served.  Kids are welcome to attend.  The purpose of the group is to provide moms much-needed “me” time to grow as women, mothers and sisters in Christ.  Email mopsofpella@gmail.com with questions.  We hope to see you there!

DO YOU ENJOY READING BOOKS TO CHILDREN?  Would you have about 40 minutes of volunteer time during the lunch hour (11:20-12:00) on Tuesdays to read to a first or second grade student and thus help with the mission of Pella Christian Grade School?  Then “Power Read” is for you. We meet in the Legacy Gym with 10-12 adults and 10-12 young children.  Each child will be paired with an adult mentor for the year.  Books are provided.  Contact Lois Van Houwelingen at 628-4680 or 780-7415 (cell).  We’d love to have you join us.
