Fellowship coffee is served downstairs at 9:00 a.m.

We invite all visitors and all members of the congregation to a Fellowship Coffee downstairs immediately after the morning worship service.

Pick up a copy of the 6-month financial report after the morning service in the Deacon’s Room. You are welcome to stay for a time of discussion at 11:00 a.m. This will be your chance to ask questions or share concerns. This opportunity will be repeated on September 3.

This evening at 6:00 p.m. First CRC, Second CRC and Faith CRC will join for worship at Faith Christian Reformed Church. Pastor Brad Meinders will preach on the biblical character Ruth. The offering will be for A.C.T.S. Ministries.

NEXT SUNDAY: Next Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. First CRC, Second CRC and Faith CRC will join for worship at First Christian Reformed Church. Pastor Tom Dykman will preach on the biblical character Abraham.

OUR CHURCH FAMILY: We wish a happy birthday to JoAnn Boot who will celebrate her 80th birthday on August 29, and pray for God’s continued blessings.

Our next two Adult Choir rehearsals will be this Wednesday, August 30, and September 6, 7:00-8:00 p.m., followed by Men’s Ensemble rehearsal, 8:00-8:30 p.m.

GEMS LEADERSHIP OPENING: Do you have a heart for mentoring and encouraging young girls in their walk with Christ? EVENING WORSHIP SERVICES: Our Elders have agreed to continue joint evening worship services with First CRC and Faith CRC for the next three months, with some exceptions as noted below. The pastors plan to preach through the Apostles’ Creed.

ADVANCE NOTICES:

Pastor Tom and Erin’s last Sunday with us will be September 24, so please plan to attend our 9:30 a.m. service, as well as our 6:00 service of Music and Praise that evening, followed by a reception to honor them.

A free screening of “Voiceless”, sponsored by Pella Pro-Life, will be at Pella Christian High School on Thursday, September 7, at 6:30 p.m. “Voiceless” (112 min.; PG13) is a multiple award-winning movie about a young war veteran with a rough past who moves to Philadelphia with his wife to serve as an inner-city outreach minister. But he puts his job on the line to stand against an abortion clinic across the street from his building. Please come to be encouraged to engage the culture and be the voice of the Voiceless.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness is offering a free 12-session educational program at The Well Campus for family members, partners, and friends of Adults with serious mental illness to help them to understand and support them while maintaining their own well-being. These will be held on Thursdays, September 7 through November 30 from 6:30-9:00 p.m. See the poster downstairs for more details.

Have you sent in your reservation for the retreat, hosted by Bible League International Volunteers, at Calvary Christian Reformed Church on September 14? Encourage your husbands and friends to come with you for the day. Our featured speaker, Jennie Afman Dimkoff, is a gifted storyteller. Barbara Boertje DeVries and Phyllis De Vries will lead us in worship and perform a mini-concert during the day. If you need a brochure, which has the cost and registration form, you will find them on the table in the narthex. The deadline to register is Tuesday, September 5.

Fall Pella Games: Pella Christian High School is hosting their first All-School Class Reunion in conjunction with the Fall Pella Games on Saturday, September 30. The day will begin with a 5K Fun Run/Walk at the school campus. Breakfast and lunch will be served by Hy-Vee at the Pella Recreation Center Fieldhouse. Other activities include sand volleyball, pickleball, cornhole and dodgeball tournaments and inflatables for the kids! The evening meal will be catered by Bubbu Q’s BBQ.
