OUR CHURCH FAMILY:  We extend our Christian sympathy to Les and Carla Nieuwsma on the death of her brother, Carroll De Nooy, on July 31 in Sioux Center.  We rejoice in the hope of everlasting life in Jesus Christ.

PRAYER MEETING UPDATE:  We plan to restart our bi-monthly congregational prayer meeting tomorrow, Monday, August 10.  We meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month.  Weather permitting, we will meet on our new building site.  Bring your own lawn chair.  We will put our chairs on the slab in what will be our new worship center, sitting six feet apart.  If needed we’ll meet at our existing building in the fellowship hall.  An update will go out via Breeze and One Call on Monday morning confirming where we’ll meet.

OFFERING:  Our offering today will go to the “Calvinist Cadets National Organization”.  Our offering August QR Code16 will go to the “Christian Education Fund”.   Loose change and undesignated checks go towards the mission or organization of the week.  If you desire to contribute to Second Christian Reformed Church and its ministries, simply write “Pella 2” on the memo line of your check. You can also give online by scanning the QR code to the right or by going online to pella2crc.breezechms.com/give/online.

For those not in attendance for any reason, the below options will remain available:

  1. Online – By logging into Breeze and clicking “Give Now” any member can donate through ACH transfer or Credit/Debit Card.
  2. Mail – Checks may be mailed to the church (Second Christian Reformed Church, 609 East 1st St., Pella, IA 50219). Please indicate “Attention Deacons” on the envelope.
  3. Drop Off – Donations may be dropped off in the slot in the deacon door at the base of the NW stairs. The door on the southwest side of the church is planned to be open during office hours. Feel free to call ahead (628-2966) to make sure the door is unlocked.

PCGS OPEN HOUSE MONDAY:  A public open house of the Pella Christian Grade School campus will be held on Monday, August 10, from 5:30-7:30 as we celebrate God’s faithfulness through the completion of our 4-Phase Building Project.  Walk through the campus to check out the updates that have been made and what it looks like to be a Pella Christian Eagle.  This is a come-and-go event and social distancing is encouraged as you walk through our one-way building tour.

PCGS JOB OPENING:  Pella Christian Grade School has an opening for a full-time learning support teacher for the 2020-21 school year. The staff member in this role would work with classroom teachers to identify and meet the learning needs of individuals and small groups of students in reading or mathematics. The candidate for this position would need to hold or be able to acquire an Iowa Teaching License in Elementary Education. Candidates can download and complete the application packet found on the employment opportunities portion of the PCGS Website.

CREATION STATION TIP NIGHT AT DE SCOOP:  Stop by De Scoop on Friday, August 14 from 1:00-9:00 p.m. and enjoy some ice cream.  A portion of the proceeds and all tips will go to support the Creation Station Christian Preschool.  You are welcome to grab and go or enjoy our spaced-out seating options. De Scoop is located at 600 Main Street in Pella.

FORWARD WITH FAITH will have a BBQ on August 15 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.,  serving pulled pork sandwiches and chips curbside from their first home at 812 Lincoln Street in Pella.  Come and support Forward With Faith.

PEORIA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS:  Peoria Christian School is seeking to fill the following positions for the 2020-2021 school year:

  • Part-time Assistant for the Pre-K/Kindergarten classroom. This would be three days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday) from 12:30-3:30 p.m.
  • Part-time Spanish Teacher

BIBLE LEAGUE RETREAT CANCELED:  Due to the Covid-19 concerns, the Bible League Retreat that was scheduled for September 17 in Pella has been canceled.
