TODAY: Welcome to Worship!  We welcome all who worship with us today.

     Fellowship coffee is served downstairs at 9:00 a.m.

     Our Children’s Christmas Program will be part of the morning worship service. We are grateful to Melissa Tukker for directing the children’s program. There will be no church school today.

     We invite all visitors and all members of the congregation to a Fellowship Coffee downstairs immediately after the morning worship service.

     This evening we will sing our closing song with candlelight and ask that each of you pick up a candle before you enter the sanctuary (use parents’ discretion for the children).  Please leave your candles in the boxes at the exits after the service.

     The GEMS girls invite all visitors and members of the congregation downstairs immediately after the evening worship service for Christmas treats and fellowship.

NEXT SUNDAY:  There will be no church school the next two Sundays.  Classes resume on January 6.

At 6:00 p.m. on December 23 we will join First CRC and Faith CRC at First CRC for worship, including a candlelight service with communion.  Pastor Ryan Faber will be preaching on Luke 2:1-14. 

OUR CHURCH FAMILY:  We wish a happy birthday to Gertrude Wassink who will celebrate her 96th birthday on December 19, and pray for God’s continued blessings.

     “I would like to thank those who sent cards, flowers, calls and offered up prayers for my 90th birthday, and also following a recent fall.  Thank you to those who came to sing at Jefferson Place and at my room.  This was very much enjoyed and appreciated.” – Kee Buitenwerf

BLUE CHRISTMAS:  A Blue Christmas community service of remembrance and hope for those dealing with grief during the holiday season will be held today, December 16, at First Baptist Church — 3:00 p.m. for pie, and 3:30 p.m. for worship.  You are welcome at this joint service.

PCHS FINANCIAL DRIVE:  If you have not yet responded to the PCHS annual Financial Drive please prayerfully consider giving a gift by December 31 and help to provide Christ-centered learning for our covenant young people.  Donations are tax-deductible and can be dropped off or mailed to 300 Eagle Lane, Pella.

ADVANCE NOTICES:

The Distinctively Healthy Church Annual Event – January 12, Faith CRC, Pella.  You are invited to a one-day equipping conference on the life-changing impact of connecting the generations in your congregation to each other.  We’ll explore what each age group brings to the table, as well as what they need from their church family.  We’ll also discuss how intentional intergenerational ministry can be a catalyst for community outreach and church growth.  Opportunities for discussion and ministry planning with your team are built into the day!  Dr. Syd Hielema (formerly a ministry professor at Dordt; now leader of Faith Formation Ministries) will present a keynote address, and several workshops will be offered.  (This event is put on by the Connections Project and Faith Formation Ministries.)

Freedom House Ministries will host a gala on Thursday, February 7, at 6:00 p.m. at Central College Graham Conference Center to raise funds to support a home for girls who have been victims of sex trafficking.  You are invited for dinner and nationally known speaker and author Gary Thomas.  Tickets ($25) are available at the Sanctuary starting December 17 (check or cash) or at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/freedom-house-gala-tickets-51812260867.  With questions, contact freedomhouse17@gmail.com.

FAMILY FAITH FORMATION TIP – On this third Sunday in Advent, spend some time talking about the many ways God shows that he loves us, including sending his own Son.  List as many ways as you can.
