OUR CHURCH FAMILY:  “Thank you to Pastor Paul, Elder Steve and Kim, Elder Les and Carla, and to each and every one who remembered me with visits, prayers, phone calls and cards while I was in the hospital and after I returned home.  Thanks be to God for healing mercies.” – Hermina Stursma

“We thank the Pella II family for all your prayers, cards, visits and treats that you brought during the last 6-1/2 months.  Thank you, Pastor Paul, for hospital visits.  We praise God for no more pain and continued healing.  God is good all the time!” – John and Louise Van Woerkom

MONDAY:  Perk-Up will meet at 9:00 a.m. at Happy Joes.  All ladies are welcome.

FROM THE DEACONSYear-End Giving Deadline:  The last Sunday to put your Pella II offerings toward 2019 giving is today.  The deacons will be working on year-end count and preparing members’ giving receipts after that date.  Thank you!

This year we will be using Breeze to provide 2019 giving statements via email.  We know this is not everyone’s preferred method so we have placed a selection sheet in your mailbox last week for you to indicate your desire for a printed copy or digital copy.  Please return these to a deacon or the offering plate before the end of the year.  Contact Corey Magnussen with questions.

CHILDREN’S CHOIR’s (1st-6th grade) next rehearsal will be Wednesday, January 8, 6:30-6:55 p.m., to sing in worship on Sunday, January 19.

MUSICAL INSTRUMENTALISTS:  Please contact Barbara Boertje DeVries for opportunities to play in worship!

FUTURE PM WORSHIP SERVICES: The Councils of Calvary, Connect, Faith and Second have decided to begin worshiping together in the evenings each Sunday at Calvary CRC beginning this evening, December 29.  Calvary provides nursery, video-streaming, and easy handicap accessibility.  Each congregation will contribute to preaching, music, and planning.  This arrangement will continue at least through August 2020, and may continue longer upon review by the Councils of the four congregations.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITY:  If you are willing to drive the church van that picks up members needing transportation to church services, please contact Ken Van Woerkom.

LIFE GROUPS:  We will begin new Life Groups at the end of January for all who are interested.  Life groups are small groups that faithfully meet together to share life, study God’s Word, support one another, and serve others. Those involved in Life Groups have experienced encouragement, spiritual growth, and deepened relationships.  More information will be coming after the first of the year.

ADVANCE NOTICES:

PCHS Special Society Meeting:  Pella Christian High Society members are invited to a special society meeting on Thursday, January 9, at 7:00 p.m. in the PCHS auditorium.  The purpose of the meeting will be to report on our strategic work from the past year.  The agenda will include a vote regarding a modification in board member elections, information about a Pilot Spanish Immersion program, and the latest steps in implementation of our strategic road map.  Go to the PCHS website at www.pceagles.org to see the proposed bylaw change for board elections.
