OUR CHURCH FAMILY: Lenora Pleima had her gall bladder removed this past Tuesday and is hopeful that her health will now improve. We pray for a quick recovery.

We wish a happy birthday to Lawrence Vander Molen who will celebrate his 85th birthday on February 24, and to Mildred Van Maanen who will celebrate her 93rd birthday on February 24, and pray for God’s continued blessings.

We rejoice at the birth of a healthy boy, Rhett Joseph, on February 10 to Levi and April Nieuwsma. We thank God for this great gift!

Faith CRC’s Outreach Ministry invites you to their Pulled Pork Supper on Wednesday, February 21, with serving from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Faith CRC. The menu includes pulled pork sandwiches, cheesy potatoes, green beans, applesauce, and a variety of homemade desserts. Free-will offering will be used to support in-country and out-of-country mission trips.

THURSDAY: The Pella Christian High music department invites you to attend their Winter Concert on February 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the Pella Christian High Vermeer Auditorium. The Concert Band, Cantabile Choir and Concert Choir will be leading you in this evening of music. We will close the concert with a performance of the “Battle Hymn of the Republic”.

The Junior class will hold a soup supper before the PCHS Winter Concert on February 22 from 5:30-6:45 p.m. in the commons. This is a freewill offering fundraiser to cover expenses for the Junior/Senior Banquet. Come out and enjoy a variety of soups along with breadsticks, cookies and drinks before you enjoy the band and choir performances.

FRIDAY: Classis Central Plains will meet at Calvary CRC on February 23 at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday at 8:00 a.m.

Communicating in the church can seem like an impossible task. Does “communication” really matter? Learn how good communication can help your ministry thrive and what you can do to make communication at your church a streamlined process, without adding hours to your workload. Join Bryan Haley of Church Juice, a ministry of Back to God Ministries International dedicated to energizing church communications, for a special seminar sponsored by Classis Central Plains at 7:00 p.m. on February 23, at Calvary CRC.

Pella Christian Grade School’s Winter Bash (previously called Spring Fling) will be happening on February 23 at Pella Christian High School. Families and supporters are encouraged to come watch “Pete’s Dragon” on the big screen! Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the movie starting at 7:00 p.m. It will be a soup supper with a free-will donation as well as a concession stand which will serve candy, pop, popcorn, and pizza. In addition, Cranberry Stone will be selling cupcakes and cookie cake. As in previous years, there will be a gift certificate booth, silent auction, and prize drawings for the kids.

TO THE PEOPLE OF SECOND PELLA: Please accept our thanks for the kindness you showed us during our stay in Pella these past 4-1/2 months. Your acts of kindness during the time of Gloria’s mother’s passing are especially appreciated. We count our time with you as another of the blessings we have experienced in our years of pastoral ministry. ANNOUNCEMENT RE MERLITA AND ALEX: Spouses Alexander (Alex) and Merlita Agbuya took their oath of naturalization as American citizens on February 9. Pastor Alex, to complement his law degree obtained in the Philippines and as part of a continuing study to raise the level of his ministry, is currently on a 147-hour course in American Law and Jurisprudence in Litigation and Legal Practice, Criminal Law and Procedure, Civil Law and Procedure, and Torts. Both are thankful for your continuous support and prayers.

Creation Station Christian Preschool is gearing up for registration for the 2018-2019 school year. Parents or guardians who are considering enrolling their children in Three School, Preschool, One to Grow On, or Spanish Immersion Preschool should complete the intention form online at pellachristian.net available Tuesday, February 27, at 9:00 p.m. or fill out an intention form provided in the Pella Christian Grade School office.

Kinder Camp, a kindergarten experience for kids turning five by September 15, 2018, will be held Thursday, March 1, from 8:45-10:15 a.m. or 12:45-2:15 p.m. A Spanish Immersion Kinder Camp will be held Thursday, March 1, from 12:45-2:15 p.m. To sign up your child for Kinder Camp or more information, call the Pella Christian Grade School office at 628-2414.

Kindergarten Parent Information Night for parents to learn more about our Christ-centered Kindergarten in both English and Spanish programs and curriculum will be held Tuesday, March 6, at 7:00 p.m. in the Pella Christian Grade School Music Room.

SPRING BREAK 2018! Are you ready to make a difference while making new friends and having fun? Join Lake View Camp as we head south to warmer weather and help families in need! Lake View will be offering a spring break work trip to Gretna, Florida, March 9-17. The trip is open to all high school students, college students, and adults. Pella Christian Grade School has the following openings for the 2018-19 school year. More detailed job descriptions are available upon request.

  • K-8 Physical Education Teacher -The primary teaching responsibilities include teaching K-8 Physical Education.
  • Food Service Director – This position oversees the food service program at PCGS with typical work hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. during school days.   Additional office hours occur during off days and the summer.
  • Food Service Worker – This is a part-time hourly food service worker position with typical work hours from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
  • K-8 Music Teacher – The primary teaching responsibilities include teaching K-8
  • Second Grade and Middle School Teacher in Spanish Immersion – Each position teaches all subjects in Spanish so that the students learn Spanish as a second language through content material. The candidate must be a committed Christian teacher who is fluent in Spanish and proficient in English. Interested applicants can contact gomezre@pellachristian.net.

DUTCH LETTERS: Peoria Christian School Circle is once again selling delicious homemade Dutch Letters. These are perfect for Easter, Tulip Time and Mother’s Day! Order forms are available at the school office or by contacting Michelle De Haan. The cost is $48 for a dozen (12), $25 for ½ dozen (6) and individual letters are $4.25. All orders are due by Monday, March 5. The Dutch Letters will be made on Saturday, March 17 (starting at 8) and all orders must be picked up that afternoon from either the school gym or Lisa Vermeer’s home in Pella.
