TODAY IS SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE SUNDAY:  An estimated 61 million preborn babies have been killed through abortion in the U.S. since the 1973 Roe v. Wade  Supreme Court decision made abortion legal nationally.  Worldometers reports that abortion was the leading cause of death worldwide (42.3 million preborn babies were killed) in 2019, making it the “social justice cause of our time”.  Today we celebrate God’s gift of Life, commemorate the millions of lives lost to abortion, and commit to loving and protecting Life at every stage.

LIFE GROUP UPDATE:  On Sunday, February 2, we will begin a new Life Group (we already have 4 full groups meeting). Life groups are small groups of around 8 to 12 people that faithfully meet together to share life, study God’s Word, support one another, and serve others. They give us a place to connect, and a time when we can encourage one another and grow deeper in our walk with the Lord.

You’ll be hearing more about Life Groups at our Sunday Services. There’s a sign-up sheet in the lobby and in the basement (just to your right as you enter the Fellowship Hall). Our first meeting on February 2 will be from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. (due to the Super Bowl starting at 5:30 p.m.). We may move our group to a later time if everyone wants to do so. Please sign up if you’re interested, and we’ll contact you soon.

CHURCH DIRECTORY LISTING CHANGES:  If  changes need to be made in your listing in the church directory, they can be written either in a directory placed on the table in the narthex or downstairs, OR in the online directory.  You can also call the church office (628-2966) or email secretary@pella2crc.org. For those who have access to the online directory, the information listed there is what will be used in the paper directory.

FALL DRIVE THANK YOU:  The Pella Christian High School board is grateful for the donations received for the annual fall drive and thank all who supported this fundraising effort.  Our goal was met due to God’s faithful provision and the gracious giving of our constituency!  This drive is instrumental in providing financial assistance to families so all parents who desire Christian education for their children can afford to do so.

THANK YOU:  “The Pella Community Food Shelf would like to thank you for your contribution to our annual turkey boxes.  Thanks to your generosity we were able to hand out 300 turkey boxes to our clients in the Pella area and to those who benefit from our monthly mobile food pantry in the southern Marion County area.  Thanks again for helping us provide a Thanksgiving meal for our clients.”

AT HOME FAITH FORMATION TIP – “Marking faith milestones makes us sensitive to the work of the Holy Spirit in our midst and helps us identify and share our stories of faith.  As we celebrate milestones, we become a community of seekers as well as believers, always on the lookout for God’s hand at work, always expecting to join in God’s mission.” – from Celebrating the Milestones of Faith, available from FaithAliveResources.org.  How might you mark faith milestones in your family or household this year?
