TODAY IS SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE SUNDAY.  Decisions made by the Supreme Court 46 years ago have resulted in the deaths of 60 million unborn babies in the USA alone.  Abortion was the number one cause of death worldwide in 2018, making it the “social justice cause of our time”.  Worldometers reports that there have been 41.9 million abortions in the course of the year.  Churches use this Sunday to celebrate God’s gift of Life, commemorate the millions of lives lost to abortion, and commit to protecting life at every stage.

CADET DERBY RACE CARS:  If anyone is interested in building a pinewood derby car for the Cadet derby races on March 6, please see Shane Tukker.  Free car kits are available on a first-come basis.  All cars must weigh 5 ounces or less.

USHERS NEEDED:  The Council has approved of expanding the number of people available for ushering.  Women and/or couples who feel led to volunteer in this capacity, please call Dave Stevenson at 620-9028 or 641-230-1086.

CRC NEWS AND PRAYER ITEMS

GROUNDWORK: Genuine Faith Influences Behavior – There’s no doubt the Apostle Paul believes the Gospel message changes people.  But Paul argues that change is not just internal, it’s external and it influences all aspects of life.  Join Groundwork as we explore 1 Thessalonians 3:1 – 4:12 to see how our faith in Jesus Christ affects our behavior. Listen now at GroundworkOnline.com.

KIDS CORNER: A Trail of Lies – Scooter forgets his promise to Liz and Lucille and tells a lie to cover it up, but one lie isn’t enough.  Do more lies lead to more trouble?  Listen now at kidscorner.net and subscribe to KC’s weekly emails for future episodes.  Download KC’s Collection of Memories Kit 2019 for a family activity today.

FAMILY FAITH FORMATION TIP – In Families at the Center of Faith Formation, John Roberto shares eight things that form faith in the home:  caring relationships, celebrating the liturgical seasons, celebrating rituals and milestones, learning the Christian tradition and applying it to life, prayer, devotions and spiritual formation, reading the Bible, serving and working for justice, and worshiping God.  How is your family doing?  What would you like to focus on more in this new year?
