Assurance of Grace            Responsive Reading

O love that will not let us go, We rest our weary souls in You.

Though we sin, fail, hurt, and destroy, You will not let us go.

Though we kill, impoverish, steal, rape, abort, and enslave, You will not let us go.

Though we judge, silence, forget, ignore, and harm, You will not let us go.

Though we fail to see the sanctity of life every day, in a million ways, You will not let us go.

Churches across the United States use this day to celebrate God’s gift of Life, to commemorate the many lives lost to abortion, and to commit to protecting life at every stage.

CHURCH DIRECTORY CHANGES? Please check your listing in a church directory on the table downstairs or in the narthex to see if it is up to date. If there are changes that need to be made to your address, phone number or email address (either changing or adding), that have not already been reported, please call the church office (628-2966), email secretary@pella2crc.org or write the change in one of the directories by January 28.

ITEMS NEEDED: The GEMS girls are collecting hygiene items to create 45 hygiene packs to be included in the Pack the Backpack program. This program provides extra food for students on Friday to ensure they have enough to eat Saturday and Sunday and that they come back to school Monday ready to learn. The program is now including a hygiene pack twice a year to ensure students also have the necessary items to physically feel their best. The GEMS will be collecting items downstairs through January 31. Please see the sign-up sheet downstairs for a list of specific items and size examples.

FALL DRIVE THANK YOU: The Pella Christian High School Board is grateful for the donations received for the annual fall drive and thanks all who supported this fundraising effort. Our goal was met due to God’s faithful provision and the gracious giving of our constituency! This drive is instrumental in providing financial assistance to families so all parents who desire Christian education for their children can afford to do so.

Pella Christian High School’s Homecoming is scheduled for the week of January 29-February 2. The students will participate in a variety of fun activities including dress-up days and noon hour competitions. Friday, February 2, the public is invited to attend the afternoon activities that start at 1:00 with chapel followed by competitions in the gym. The final event will be the presentation of the homecoming court at approximately 3:00 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit Forward with Faith (forwardwithfaith.org), a community nonprofit raising funds to build a family-style home for men with disabilities in Pella. The event will be held at Federated Fellowship, 309 Roosevelt Road in Pella.  Auction browsing and bidding takes place from 5:00-6:00 p.m.; dinner will be served at 6:15, followed by Vander Plaats’ presentation. THANK YOU: To the congregation of Second CRC: Thank you so much for the support and gifts that our ministry, Back to God Ministries International, receives from your church. Know that we continue to share the Gospel around the world. We still use radio, television and printed materials like the TODAY devotional – but we are reaching people with all kinds of new media too – internet, blogs and smartphone apps. Not only do we share the Good News of Jesus Christ, we are also committed to discipling people and strengthening the Church. We so appreciate your partnership. We ask that you pray for our ministry and staff, and pray that the Holy Spirit will work in the hearts of people who hear the message of salvation. Thanks again for your support
