“Saying “thank you” hardly seems enough when I think of all the ways I was remembered by so many of you after my recent fall.  Visits and phone calls from Pastor Paul and Jon Van Woerkom, as well as all the other prayers, cards, phone calls, food and visits were such a blessing.  Please know they were gratefully received and enjoyed.  Healing is going well.  Blessings to you all.” – Anne Bokhoven

C4C LEADER SIGN-UP:  There is a sign-up sheet downstairs for those who would like to lead or help with C4C throughout the year.  There is very little prep involved, and anyone, middle school age or older is welcome to take a turn!

CHURCH DIRECTORY CHANGES?  Please check your listing in a church directory on the table downstairs or in the narthex to see if it is up to date.  If there are changes or additions that need to be made to your address, phone number or email address, please call the church office (628-2966), email secretary@pella2crc.org or write the change in one of the directories.

THANK YOU:  “Pella II Church – Thank you for your letters.  We are so grateful that people are reading our letters.  And we are grateful for the packet of Christmas cards, as always.  Thank you, too, for the generous financial support of the church.” – Love – Lloyd and Nancy Peckham

The Dordt College Concert Choir from Sioux Center invites you to a concert at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, at First Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa (815 North 11th St.).  Directed by Mr. Ryan Smit, the ensembles will perform a wide variety of choral music, including hymn arrangements, gospel, classics from Mozart and Brahms, multi-cultural songs from around the globe, and profound works from exciting new composers.  The concert is free, with a freewill offering received to help defray tour expenses.

Have you been considering taking the Perspectives course?  Visit the first class Monday, January 14, for free.  This is a great way for you to learn more about:

  • God’s unchanging purpose and mission in the world.
  • How God has used key events and people throughout history to extend His kingdom
  • How the Gospel is understood, received, and lived out by people from different cultures and with different worldviews.
  • The vital roles you can play in God’s global purpose by using your gifts, skills, and passions for God’s glory.

To register or learn more about this class, visit www.perspectives.org.  Join us next Monday, January 14, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the BMW rooms in the Maytag Center (1st floor) on Central College’s campus.  Free parking is available across the street in the maintenance parking lot.  If you have questions contact Matt Diehl, 620-8231, diehlm@central.edu or Kathy Terlouw, 628-4900, kathyt@trcpella.com.

BackPack PROGRAM:  The number of students needing assistance from the Pella BackPack Program has increased.  Therefore, the BackPack Program is looking for help with food donations from area churches.  Pella II is asked to collect donations of single serving size of oatmeal packets and of raisins.  Please place donations in the box on the table downstairs by January 30.  Thank you for your help in providing assistance to children in need.

CRC NEWS AND PRAYER ITEMS

GROUNDWORK: All You Need – If you spend any time watching TV or trolling the internet, you’ll quickly discover there’s a lot you just can’t live without…at least according to advertisers.  Join Groundwork as we study the Apostle Paul’s reminder to early Christians and to us in 1 Thessalonians 1 that in Christ we have all we need in life. Listen now at GroundworkOnline.com.

KIDS CORNER: What Not to Wear – Lacey talks Lucille into buying clothes she knows her mother won’t want her to wear.  What happens when Lucille starts lying and hanging out with the wrong gang of kids?  What will Liz do? Listen now at kidscorner.net and subscribe to KC’s weekly emails for future episodes.  Download KC’s Collection of Memories Kit 2019 for a family activity today.

FAMILY FAITH FORMATION TIP – It’s true that faith is “caught” just as much as it’s “taught”.  Kids will learn to value Bible reading more if you let them “catch” you reading God’s Word on your own — not just in church or during family devotions.  Talk with them about what you’re reading and how it connects with your daily life.
