OFFERINGSJuly 12: Missions Fund; July 19:  Pella Food Shelf; July 26:  With Love Toy Ministry

TODAY:  Joel Huyser was planning to visit Pella II in August; however, Resonate Mission has determined that he cannot travel due to the pandemic.  Instead of traveling, Joel is providing recorded sermons to the churches he was going to visit.  Since Pastor Paul is gone today we will show the video sermon he has prepared for us. He and Jeannie are supported by our church and helped found the Nehemiah Center in Nicaragua.  They now live in Texas, and coach and equip Christian leaders in five different continents.

OUR CHURCH FAMILY:  Sid Klyn is doing much better and was scheduled to return to his home this past Friday.  We thank God for healing mercies.

We extend our Christian sympathy to Leona Nunnikhoven on the death of her sister, Cynthia Langstraat, on June 30.  We rejoice in the hope of everlasting life in Jesus Christ.

“Thank you to all who expressed sympathy by word and by sending cards after the death of our brother-in-law.” – Shirley Van Hal and Ruth Van Hal

VOTING OPTIONS: Three voting options will be available for the July 13 congregational meeting.  These are being offered in recognition of pandemic precautionary measures and to help encourage participation. Please select one of the following three options:

Option A – In-person ballot at the July 13 congregational meeting.

Option B – Paper absentee ballot

  • Ballots are planned to be distributed via email to members on July 6, which may be printed.  The email will be sent to the same distribution list as the weekly bulletin.  For members without internet, ballots have been mailed.
  • Paper absentee ballots must be fully completed and placed in a sealed envelope with the signature and printed name of the voter on the outside of the envelope.  One ballot per envelope.
  • To return sealed ballots, please either mail to the church or place in the slot in the deacons’ door at the base of the NW stairs.  If mailing, please indicate “ballot” on the outer envelope.
  • Ballots must be received by 5:30 PM on July 13.  It is recommended to mail ballots no later than July 9.

Option C – Electronic absentee ballots

  • An electronic absentee ballot will be made available through Pella II Breeze.  A link to the Breeze ballot is planned to be emailed to members on July 6.  The email will be sent to the same distribution list as the weekly bulletin.
  • The voter’s name and email address are required when completing the Breeze ballot.  One submission per member.
  • Votes must be submitted via Breeze prior to 5:30 PM on July 13.

All absentee ballots are subject to an approved motion to accept them at the congregational meeting.  Thank you in advance for your participation – Pella II Council

BABY GIFTS:  There is a table located in the entryway for anyone who wishes to bring a baby gift to welcome Mason Garrett, son of Jacob and Regina Vaverka, born June 16. The table will be available through July 26. – Sponsored by the Quilting Small Group

SUMMER MUSIC MINISTRY:  Even in the absence of Choir, anyone comfortable singing or playing a solo and/or in a small (“socially distanced”) group is encouraged to let Barbara Boertje DeVries know.  We are a “Psalm 150 People”, a congregation to whom God has generously given many musical talents, so let’s continue the theme: “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” – Praise the Lord!

SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE: Our church is again partnering with the Pella Food Shelf in providing school supplies for local children going back to school.  Because of the challenging time for purchasing items this year, we are asking for cash donations.  If you wish to help purchase school supplies for needy children, please place your donation in an envelope marked “School Supplies” and put it in the offering plate, or mail it to church with “Attn: School Supplies” on the envelope. This needs to be received by July 12.

OFFERING:   Our offering today will go to “World Renew”.  Our offering July 12 will go to the “Missions Fund”.   Loose change and undesignated checks go towards the mission or organization of the week.  If you QR Codedesire to contribute to Second Christian Reformed Church and its ministries, simply write “Pella 2” on the memo line of your check. You can also give online by scanning the QR code to the right or by going online to pella2crc.breezechms.com/give/online.

For those not in attendance for any reason, the below options will remain available:

  1. Online – By logging into Breeze and clicking “Give Now” any member can donate through ACH transfer or Credit/Debit Card.
  2. Mail – Checks may be mailed to the church (Second Christian Reformed Church, 609 East 1st St., Pella, IA 50219). Please indicate “Attention Deacons” on the envelope.
  3. Drop Off – Donations may be dropped off in the slot in the deacon door at the base of the NW stairs. The door on the southwest side of the church is planned to be open during office hours. Feel free to call ahead (628-2966) to make sure the door is unlocked.

Thank you again for your continued support. – Pella II Deacons

LETTER CAMPAIGN:  The annual Pella Christian High Spring Gala was canceled due to COVID-19 this year.  This is a large fundraiser for our school with $55,000 in receipts budgeted for the event.  These dollars are traditionally used for a variety of needs at our school and also assist in keeping the cost of education affordable.  You are invited to prayerfully consider making a contribution to this year’s gala fund and help us meet our goal. Checks made payable to PCHS with “Gala” in the memo can be mailed or dropped off at 300 Eagle Lane in Pella.

JOB OPPORTUNITY:  Pella Christian High School is taking applications for an evening custodial position from 2:00-10:30 p.m. each day.  The position begins on August 1.  Please contact our Head of Facilities, Doug Van Wyk, at 641-780-5440 (vanwykd@pceagles.org) for more information.  You may also email our Principal, Greg Wojczynski at wojczynskig@pceagles.org.

IT’S BLUEBERRY TIME!  Fresh, delicious, straight-from-Michigan blueberries are being sold by Lake View Camp as a fundraiser for their summer camping ministry. The blueberries will be delivered to Pella on Saturday, July 11 (orders due July 6), and Saturday, July 25 (orders due July 20).  The order form is on the table in the narthex, on the camp’s website, www.lakeviewconference.com, or  you can call 641-628-2160.

GROUNDWORK: Choosing Hope in Suffering – When we have every right to lament and despair, what is the source for our continued hope?  Join Groundwork as we listen to Job’s laments in chapters 13-21 and find out what he declares is the source of his continued hope at a time when it seems all hope is lost.
