OUR CHURCH FAMILY: Shane Tukker will be having open heart surgery on Monday, April 1, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, and will be there for most of the week.  Please keep Shane in your prayers for successful surgery and a quick recovery.

Please pray for Sawyer Vander Molen (3-year-old son of Devin and Clair) and his family as he is beginning periodic treatments in Iowa City for bone disease in his jaw, shoulder and spine.

ALL-CHURCH PRAYER MEETING:  Beginning in April we’ll gather on the 2nd and 4th Monday evenings of each month, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the parsonage, to pray for the ministries and outreach of our congregation.  We come with a sense of urgency, knowing that the power and wisdom of God released through prayer are essential for the future of our congregation.  We invite all to join us.

PALM SUNDAY, April 14 at 6:00 p.m., at our joint evening service, a group of singers and musicians from local churches will be putting on a Good Friday/Easter program entitled “At the Cross”.  The presentation will include dramatic readings and songs.  Levi Nieuwsma from Pella II is one of the singers in the program.  The presentation will be held right here at Pella II.  Join us for this meaningful way to begin Holy Week together.

MAUNDY THURSDAY, April 18 at 7:00 p.m., Faith, Pella I and Pella II will join together at Faith CRC to remember the Lord’s final supper with his disciples.  The service will focus on the upper room – Jesus washing his disciples’ feet, the new command that he gave and the Lord’s Supper.  We’ll celebrate the Lord’s Supper together.

GOOD FRIDAY, April 19, at 7:00 p.m., Pella II will hold our traditional Good Friday service in our sanctuary.  Join us as we meditate upon our Lord’s death for our salvation.

TULIP TIME PARKING:  The annual Pella II fundraiser is once again selling our church parking spots for Tulip Time (May 2-4). The parking spots are $45 each for Thursday, Friday, & Saturday.  After April 15, these spots will be available for the community to purchase. There is a sign-up sheet in the basement. Please make checks payable to Pella II Youth Group and give them to Glenda Van Woerkom.  Proceeds this year will be used for future Serve Projects and Pella II GEMS Club.

TULIP TIME PARKING VOLUNTEERS:  We need your help covering parking shifts during Tulip Time.  Sign-up sheets are downstairs. Three shift options on Thursday, Friday and Saturday include 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., and 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.  THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your assistance!

     Grandparents and Special Friends of Pella Christian Grade School students are invited to “A Grand Day” scheduled for Friday, April 12.  The morning will begin at 8:35 a.m. with a chapel of praise and worship.  Building project update will be presented.  After the chapel program will be time to visit classrooms from approximately 9:20 a.m. until lunch is served.  Grandparents are invited to stay for lunch.  Lunch menu includes ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, dinner roll, applesauce, cookie and milk.  Lunch will be served out of the lunch area with seating in both gyms.  Classes will be dismissed in grade order starting with kindergarten at 11:20 a.m. and ending with eighth grade.  Regular classes will resume for students following scheduled lunch breaks.  The remainder of the day will be used as a snow make-up day. Classes dismiss for the day at the normal 3:30 p.m. time.

The evening before, Thursday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m., the 3rd-5th grade students will  perform the musical “Old Testament Fast Forward” at Pella Christian High School.  Please join us as we “fast forward” through the Old Testament, discovering, as the Israelites did, that God’s story is a pretty amazing one to live in!  Hope to see you all there!

Do you need a Date Night? …Who better to watch your kids than a group of moms?!  The local MOPS/MOMSnext group is hosting a fundraiser event on Friday, April 12, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Federated Fellowship.  We will provide a fun evening with games and snacks for your little ones (ages 6 weeks to 12 years) while you enjoy some alone time.  Cost will be $15 per child ($10 per child after your first three kids!).  Email mopsofpella@gmail.com by Monday, April 8 to sign up!

Pella Christian High School Dinner Theatre Gala:  Please join us for our Mystery Dinner Theatre event, “Hawaiian Heist” at PCHS on Saturday, April 13, at 6:00 p.m.  An entertaining evening and scrumptious meal are being planned.  Feel free to dress casually and wear your tropical shirt if you have one!  This is our annual fundraiser used to keep tuition affordable. Call the school office at 628-4440 by noon Monday, April 8, to reserve a spot for a delicious meal and a casual, fun-filled evening.

PCHS Society Meeting on Thursday, April 25.  This year’s society meeting will be preceded at 6:00 p.m. with a free pork dinner served by the FFA Club and the Ag Advisory Committee.  The Society Meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. with reports on the recent strategic planning initiative, current financial status of the school, the upcoming Spanish Immersion program opportunity, and proposed board governance changes.

PELLA CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL OPENINGS:  PCHS has an opening for a band instructor, an upper level Spanish teacher, and a part-time Industrial Arts teacher.  Please contact Principal Dan Van Kooten at vankootend@pceagles.org if you or someone you know is interested.
