Fellowship coffee is served downstairs at 9:00 a.m.

We invite visitors and members of the congregation to a Fellowship Coffee downstairs after the morning worship service.

There will be a Council Chat at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary.  The main purpose of the Chat will be a presentation of the preliminary new building plan.

At 6:00 p.m. First CRC, Second CRC, Calvary CRC and Faith CRC will all gather at Calvary CRC for the Gospel Singers Male Chorus concert.

NEXT SUNDAY: At 6:00 p.m. we will join First CRC and Faith CRC at Faith CRC.  Pastor Paul Bradford will preach on 1 Peter 5:8-14, Winning the War.

OUR CHURCH FAMILY:  We extend our Christian sympathies to the family of Lenora Pleima who passed away May 11. We rejoice in the hope of everlasting life in Jesus Christ.

We wish a happy birthday to Tom De Vries who will celebrate his 92nd birthday on May 26, and pray for God’s continued blessings.

We express our congratulations and best wishes to the young people of our congregation who are graduating this year.  May the Lord richly bless each of you as you continue your education or pursue your vocation. They are:

SERVE OPPORTUNITY:  The Family Ministries Team is planning a “Labor Day” event to kick off our fall youth programs and invite families in the community to come visit our church and see what we have to offer.  Some ideas include bounce houses, yard games, booths with games and information about our programs and, of course, delicious food.  If you’d like to be part of the group planning this event, please email kathrynmagnussen@gmail.com.

ADVANCE NOTICES:

Please plan to attend a service of musical praise by many of our congregation’s talented singers and instrumentalists of all ages on Sunday, June 2, 6:00 p.m.  This will be a special time of worship to invite your friends and extended family to!

P.E.T. Build Day:  Please join us at PET Leighton on Friday, June 7, for our annual PET build days.  We plan on building all day, with lunch and coffeetime provided, and possibly supper if it goes that long.  A sign-up sheet is on the table downstairs.

You are invited to a Memorial Day Service at the Peoria Cemetery at 9:00 a.m. on May 27.  Al Bandstra will be the speaker.  Please bring your lawn chairs.  In case of inclement weather, the service will be held at the Peoria gym.  Refreshments will be served.

On Memorial Day, May 27, IGNITE Youth Group of First CRC of Oskaloosa will have a pancake breakfast from 7:00-10:00 a.m. serving pancakes, sausages, cinnamon rolls, fruit and drink.  A free-will offering will be accepted.

Memorial Day Breakfast– The Pella Christian High School Softball team will have a free-will donation breakfast on May 27 from 7:00-10:00 a.m. at Pella Christian High.  The menu will be biscuits and gravy, sausage patties, fruit cup, cinnamon roll, coffee, juice and milk.  Please come and support the team.  We would love to cook for you!

Marriage Night:  On Friday, May 31, you are invited to attend a Marriage Night simulcast at First CRC in Pella.  The simulcast includes Francis & Lisa Chan, Les & Leslie Parrott and comedian Michael Jr. as speakers.  The evening begins at 5:45 p.m. with check-in and a meal.  The three-hour simulcast will begin at 7:00 p.m.   The cost for this entire night is $15 per person.  For more information, feel free to contact us at firstcrc@iowatelecom.net or visit www.marriagenight.org to register.

Peoria Christian Reformed Church will celebrate their 125th Anniversary on June 2.  Three former pastors will participate in their 9:30 a.m. service.  A noon fellowship meal will follow (food and table service provided for guests).  The 6:00 p.m. service will be a time of celebration to God for His faithfulness through 125 years.

Freedom House is having their 3rd birthday party and a silent auction on June 7, from 6:00-8:30 p.m., at the Caldwell Shelter House.  Consider donating a basket or item to the auction.  There will be supper, games, music and more!  See the bulletin board for details.

Bacon Fest for Haiti! – On Saturday, June 8, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on the Prairie City square, sponsored by Prairie City CRC. All proceeds go for the pig farming program at United Christians International in Haiti (http://ucihaiti.org).  There will be a competition for the best bacon recipe, and your vote counts.  Tickets are $10 which will get you a sample at every booth and all the side items.  There will be a sculpting contest for kids, games and other activities.  Join us June 8 to raise some bacon to equip the Haitian community with the ability and opportunity to raise bacon.  Questions – prairiecitycrc@gmail.com or 515-994-2184.

PEORIA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL is looking for a new part-time secretary for the 2019-2020 school year.  The job would start August 1 and run to the end of the school year.  If you are interested in this position or know someone who is, please email Jeremy Copenhaver at principal@peoriachr.org.
