OFFERINGSJune 7: Hope Ministries; June 14: Pella Christian Grade School Tuition Assistance (TAP)

NEXT SUNDAY:  The High School Graduates will be recognized next Sunday, June 7.

OUR CHURCH FAMILY:  Gertrude Wassink has moved to the Cottages.  Her permanent mail address is:  Gertrude Wassink, c/o Ruth Gorter,  1648 Dubuque Drive, Otley, IA  50214.  Her permanent room and phone numbers will be determined after she gets out of isolation.

Please pray for Deb Klyn who is struggling with Lupus and Atrial Fib.

“Thank you for cards, well wishes and telephone calls received for my 91st birthday.  They were much appreciated.” – Bill Stursma

“Words cannot adequately express our gratitude to you for your outpouring of love and care for Jeff and me after the passing of my mother, Shirley Boertje.  Thank you for the beautiful Peace Lily from you, our dear “Pella II Family”.  We are so very grateful to all who attended the visitation and/or memorial service, sent cards, organized and prepared meals, extended other expressions of sympathy, and especially to all who have prayed for us and our extended family.  Even in this time of loss, we do not grieve as those who have no hope, but rejoice that my mother is now worshiping and serving her Lord and Savior in her heavenly Home!” – Barbara Boertje DeVries

COMMUNION:  The next Communion is scheduled for the June 21 service, instead of June 7 as indicated on the bulletin cover.  This change is intended to allow for additional monitoring of pandemic developments that may impact Communion, as well as to prepare for a different way of serving the elements.  The plan is to use individual pre-filled and pre-sealed juice and wafer containers, instead of the traditional passing of the elements, for health safety reasons.  For those not attending the June 21 in-person service, you may partake using your own juice and bread while participating in the Communion service online. – Pella II Governing Board

TECH MINISTRY HELP WANTED:  The Pella II audio and video ministry needs volunteers.  If you are interested in helping and are willing to be trained in aspects of this ministry, please contact Jason Van Hal (jsnvnhl@gmail.com).

SUMMER MUSIC MINISTRY:  Even in the absence of Choir, anyone comfortable singing or playing a solo and/or in a small (“socially distanced”) group is encouraged to let Barbara Boertje DeVries know.  We are a “Psalm 150 People”, a congregation to whom God has generously given many musical talents, so let’s continue the theme: “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” – Praise the Lord!

FATHER’S DAY MUSIC:  Any fathers and family members interested in participating in music/worship leading on June 21 (Father’s Day), please contact Barbara Boertje DeVries by Sunday, June 7.

OFFERING:  Our offering today will go to “Bethany Christian Services”.  Our offering June 7 will go to “Hope Ministries”.   Loose change and undesignated checks go towards the mission or organization of the week.  If QR Codeyou desire to contribute to Second Christian Reformed Church and its ministries, simply write “Pella 2” on the memo line of your check. HOPE UNITED FUNDGiving Financial Hope to Families of South Central Iowa Christian Schools:  As a united group of Christian Schools, we rejoice in the hope we have in Christ to see us through this pandemic, but also recognize the financial strain many of our families may be enduring.  For this reason we are uniting together to raise funds for additional tuition assistance during this uncertain time.  Visit https://tinyurl.com/HopeUnitedFund to support Christian School families in South Central Iowa.  You can select a specific school or give a gift to be divided among all participating schools. Options are available to donate by check, credit card or bank account. Please consider supporting the Hope United Fund financially. We appreciate your prayers for our schools and the students and families who have invested in a Christ-centered education.

SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER:  Pella Christian High School is in need of a part-time Special Education Instructor.  This position is responsible for providing instruction to students in specially designed instruction based on individual IEP goals.  This applicant should be someone who is organized, resourceful, caring, and  most importantly, a mission appropriate teacher.  If you have any questions, please contact HS Vice Principal, Greg Wojczynski at wojczynskig@pceagles.org.

PEORIA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL:  Graduation is tentatively set for Tuesday, June 30, at 7:00 p.m.  More details will come but please be praying for wisdom as we plan how to have our graduation.

NEW LIFE PRISON CHURCH is looking for bicycle riders.  This year’s Pedal for Prisoners will be a virtual ride.  Want to participate?  Email PastorRick@newlife-prison.org

FROM JOEL HUYSER:  Urgent call for prayer for Hultner Estrada, the director of the Nehemiah Center, who has a serious case of Covid-19, and for the family of Rev. Freddy Ordoñez, who for many years was president of the CRC of Nicaragua; he has died of Covid-19, his two adult daughters have been diagnosed with Covid-19, and his wife has possible symptoms of it also.  Pray for protection of all the people of Nicaragua who are so vulnerable in front of this pandemic.  We continue to trust in our God.

CRC NEWS AND PRAYER ITEMS

GROUNDWORK: The Way of Folly – We know God’s perspective is distinctly unlike many of our human expectations.  Studying Proverbs to learn how the Bible characterizes a fool and the way of folly in passages like Proverbs 9:13-18 can lead us to a greater understanding of what God desires from us.  Listen now at GroundworkOnline.com.

KIDS CORNER: Chosen – Morrie’s parents are acting weird.  What did Liz overhear?  How will Morrie’s life change forever?   Listen at kidscorner.net.  Download the Kids Corner puzzle and game giveaway Summer Fun Bible Activity Book (https://kidscorner.net/activities).

AT-HOME FAITH FORMATION TIP – Today, Pentecost Sunday, we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit.  Check out thebibleproject.com/explore/holy-spirit/ for a wonderful five-minute video that traces the movement of God’s Spirit from Genesis to today.  How might you or your family become more aware of the Spirit’s work in your everyday life?

REHOBOTH CHRISTIAN SCHOOL:  Nightly curfews and weekend lockdowns continue to be a reality for the Navajo Nation.  Virus cases on the reservation have surpassed 4,794 with 157 deaths, and in McKinley County, NM, 1 in 33 people are infected.  Please continue to pray for our students, staff and families as more and more are being impacted by COVID-19.  Pray for courage in times of fear and for the work that continues on campus.
