We welcome Pastor Jack and Karen Vanden Heuvel as Pastor Jack begins serving as our interim minister!  His letter of introduction was in your mailbox last Sunday.

Our time of worship this morning was planned with the intention to finish in plenty of time for all to attend the 11:00 a.m. Community Thanksgiving and Praise service to mark the close of Tulip Time held at the Vermeer Global Pavilion.  Pella native Rev. Mark Vander Hart will be the main speaker.  Choirs from both schools will be participating.  Join us in seeking God and His glory!

We invite all visitors and all members of the congregation to a Fellowship Coffee downstairs immediately after the morning worship service.

At 6:00 p.m. we will join First CRC at their church for worship.  Pastor Brad Meinders will be preaching on Lord’s Days 5 and 6.  The offering is for The Well.

ADVANCE NOTICES:

Band Pops Concert – The annual instrumental Pops Concert will be held on Tuesday, May 15, at 7:00 p.m. in the gymnasium.  You will need to reserve a table in advance or you may sit on the bleachers.  Reservation deadline is Friday, May 11, at 9:00 a.m.  This year, the band will be performing several favorites, including “Hollywood Milestones” and “Bugs Bunny’s Greatest Hits” and many more.  This is a great event for multiple generations and the whole family.  Free popcorn and ice cream sundaes!!

Pella Christian High Commencement:  The 78th Annual Commencement Exercises will take place on Saturday, May 19, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the PCHS gymnasium.  The address will be given by Mrs. Lois Vermeer, and the 2018 class representative will be Mara Juffer.

Latino Feast Wednesday May 23, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Faith CRC.  Menu:  a chicken-rice hot dish (arroz a la valenciana), rice and beans (gallo pinto), corn, cookies and ice cream. Free-will donation.  All proceeds will support the work of Faith Church’s sister churches in Chinandega, Nicaragua.

The Third Annual Heartland Gospel Hymn Sing will be Saturday, June 9 at 6:00 p.m.  in the Pella Christian High School Vermeer Auditorium. You are invited to join us for this non-denominational intergenerational time of singing the heartwarming traditional hymns of the faith, led by Mr. Tom Brown and a mass choir, which will include anyone who wants to sing along with some of our local Gospel singers.  Our pianist will be Mrs. Barbara Nunnikhoven.   A free-will offering will be received to cover expenses.  For additional information, or if you want to be part of the mass choir, contact Carol Houk at cardonhouk@mahaska.org or Christy Van Zee at vanzeejc@gmail.com or 628-1068.  The choir will practice at 5:00 p.m. on June 9.

THANK YOU from Pella Christian High School.  Our Spring Theatre Gala held April 21 was a fun-filled evening and the school is grateful to all those who attended and who generously donated to the cause of student assistance.  If you could not attend but would like to support our efforts to keep Christian Education affordable for all families, your gift would be most appreciated!  Just drop it off or mail to the school office at 300 Eagle Lane in Pella.

BIBLES FOR MISSIONS:  Since January 2010 the volunteers at the Pella Bibles for Missions Thrift Center have provided funds for over 500,000 Bibles for Christians around the world.  Do you have a heart for the lost and for those longing to own their own Bible?  Are you willing to help the Thrift Center volunteers four hours a week, or every other week, sorting, cleaning, and displaying merchandise?  If so, please complete a volunteer application at the store at 2500 Fifield in west Pella.

KADENS KLOSET is a 100% volunteer and donation run not-for-profit organization that exists to provide services and necessities for foster and adoptive children, and families and children in need within our communities and beyond.
