PROFESSION OF FAITH

   Questions for the parents.

   Question for the congregation.

.. Do you promise to love, encourage, and support these brothers and sisters by teaching the gospel of God’s love, by being an example of Christian faith and character, and by giving the strong support of God’s family in fellowship, prayer, and service?

.. Congregation:  We do, God helping us.

Affirmation of Faith – the Apostles’ Creed

.. I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

DECLARATION, BLESSING, AND WELCOME

Brothers and sisters, we now receive Chloe into Christ’s church.  Do you welcome her in love, and do you promise to pray for, encourage, and help nurture her in the faith?

Congregation:  We do.

   Let us bless Chloe together:

Congregation:  The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.  Amen.

PELLA CHRISTIAN FFA CHAPTER UPDATE:

  • More than 50 members and guests attended the kick-off event at Caldwell in September.
  • 25 members participated in FFA contests at the Clark County fairgrounds on September 17. Members were able to learn more about livestock evaluation, dairy foods, and vet science.
  • Five members attended the National Convention October 30-November 1 and had a great time hearing from speakers and exploring the expo.

Upcoming events:

  1. Fruit delivery the first week in December. Hard copy ordering has now closed. You may still make purchases online. If you wish to do so please contact Miss Rethmeier at rethmeiere@pceagles.org for the information.
  2. KEY Cooperative Bushels for Ag program allows producers to donate any amount of corn or soybeans to the Pella Christian FFA chapter at any KEY location. FFA members will then practice their marketing skills in class to sell the grain. Income from grain sales will go to the chapter to support events such as our annual banquet, state convention, FFA Week celebrations, and leadership training.

As you can see the PCHS Ag/FFA program has had a busy year already. Please continue to pray for this program and its members. We appreciate your support!

CRC NEWS AND PRAYER ITEMS

GROUNDWORK: Making Sense of Setbacks – Just like most building and construction projects, we can expect to encounter setbacks in our lives.  Join us as we study the setbacks Ezra and Nehemiah faced in Ezra 3-4 and Ezra 7:8-28 to gain a greater understanding and biblical perspective for enduring our own trials and setbacks.

KIDS CORNER: Remembrance Day – It’s time for the annual Remembrance Day parade, but what exactly are Liz and his friends remembering?  And why is Grandpa so sad Download DC’s Advent Gifts of Kindness devotionals to lead your family as you prepare for Christmas.

AT-HOME FAITH FORMATION TIP – “Wondering questions” are an excellent way to engage kids (and people of all ages!) with Scripture.  For example, after you read the creation story, ask open-ended questions like “I wonder what it looked like when God created the stars?” “I wonder what it would be like if there were no predators in our world?”  “I wonder what you would feel like if you were the first person in God’s creation?”
