NEXT SUNDAY:  Next Sunday morning the congregation will be blessed with the joy of witnessing the baptism of Serenity Ruth, daughter of Tony and Sarah Van Zee. May God be praised for His covenant faithfulness!

At 6:00 p.m. we will join Connect Church and Faith CRC at Faith CRC for worship.  Pastor Paul Bradford will preach on “Yahweh Shalom” The Lord is Peace.

OUR CHURCH FAMILY: We extend our Christian sympathies to Jonathan Van Haaften on the death of his mother, Nellie Fee, on October 4.  We rejoice in the hope of everlasting life in Jesus Christ.

MONDAY:  Perk Up will meet at 9:00 a.m. at Happy Joes.  All ladies are welcome.

TUESDAY:  All-church prayer meeting at the parsonage from 6:30-7:30 p.m.  We invite all to join us to pray for the ministries and outreach of our congregation. Note change of day.

On October 15 at 7:00 p.m., the Pella Christian High School Music Department will premier its large performing ensembles at the annual Fall Concert.  The band and choirs will perform a variety of music in the school auditorium. Come and enjoy the musical gifts of our Pella Christian High School students.  A bake sale will also be held before and after the concert. The sale will begin at 6:00 p.m. with all proceeds going to the Music Department.

WEDNESDAYOur Cadet Club will be hosting its annual Pork Patty BBQ on October 16 from 5:00-6:30 p.m.  The menu includes pork patty sandwiches, hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad, chips, desserts, and beverages.  Free will donations will be accepted.

Adult Choir rehearsal, 7:00-8:30 p.m.

CHILDREN’S CHOIR:  1st-7th grade choir’s next rehearsal will be Wednesday, October 23, 6:30-6:55 p.m.  See Barbara Boertje DeVries for more details.

COMBINED CHOIR OPPORTUNITY:  Even if you are not currently singing in Adult Choir, if you have previously sung God Is Our Refuge (by Allen Pote), you are welcome to sing with our choir at a combined worship service on Reformation Sunday, October 27, 6:00 p.m. at Calvary CRC.  If interested, please attend rehearsals in our sanctuary on Wednesday, October 16 and 23, 8:10-8:30 p.m.  See Barbara Boertje DeVries for more details.

NAME CHANGE TASK FORCE:  The Council is looking for anyone interested in joining the Name Change Task Force.  This team will gather name ideas from the congregation, add their own thoughts, and bring a list of top names, along with their reasoning for each name, to the Governing Board.  Please contact a Council Member if you would like to be part of this team.

The PCHS Theatre Troupe will open its 70th theatre season with Disney’s newest musical, Newsies, on October 31, November 1 and 2 at 7:00 p.m. at the PCHS Vermeer Auditorium.  Having just been released to the general public, Pella Christian will be only the 4th high school in Iowa to perform the show!  Reserved tickets are no longer sold in the school office but are available for purchase on-line beginning October 21 at https://pchstt.booktix.com/.  (This link will also appear on the school website.)  Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students ($2 more at the door) which includes credit card and handling fees charged to the school.  All sales will be final.

Save the Date:  Cary Christian Center will be hosting a fish fry on November 2 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at Faith CRC.  More details to follow.

A WALK TO REMEMBER: Empty Cradle invites you to A Walk to Remember today, at 3:00 p.m. at Scholte Church in Pella Historical Village.  Empty Cradle supports and connects families who have lost a baby due to miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death.  Family and friends are invited to come for a time of remembering these precious babies.

ADMISSIONS DIRECTOR OPENING: Pella Christian Grade School and High School have an immediate opening for a full-time Admissions Director.  The Admissions Director is responsible for representing and marketing PCGS and PCHS to parents, prospective parents, and community to bring in new students and retain current students. This includes managing the entire admission process and events from initial inquiry to enrollment to integration into the school.
