OUR CHURCH FAMILY:  We extend our Christian sympathies to Mary Ann Vander Molen, whose sister-in-law Shirley Bruxvoort passed away on October 10.  May God comfort her with the hope of eternal life in Jesus our Lord.

We wish a happy birthday to Edith Van Zee who will celebrate her 90th birthday on October 23, and to Thressa Nieuwsma who will celebrate her 89th birthday on October 24 and pray for God’s continued blessings.

“It is very difficult for Martha Slings to make phone calls because of her failing vision but she really appreciates receiving phone calls from the congregation (620-4130).”

“The family of Raymond Klyn is grateful for the expressions of sympathy given at the time of his passing.  The cards, memorials, plants and especially the prayers.   It was hard not to be able to see Ray when he was hospitalized with the COVID.  Ray is now in his heavenly home.  Thank you, Pastor Paul, for giving such a meaningful message at the grave site.  It has all been in God’s hands.  Thank you church family!  To God be the glory!” –  Lois Klyn, David and Brenda Klyn, Megan Klyn, Debra Klyn, Sylvia Langstraat, Marion and Glenda Klyn, Sid and Mary Klyn, Les and Linda Klyn

PETER FISHBe sure to pick up your Peter Fish today.  They are available in the narthex.  Feed them well and return them on Sunday, November 1, when our denomination observes World Hunger Sunday.  Nearly 1 billion people around the world are hungry.

FELLOWSHIP HALL: In view of the approaching fall and winter temperatures, the basement fellowship hall is now fully reopened, and available before, during and after worship services.  The areas previously closed off by the sliding doors are open to allow as much room as possible.  When in the fellowship hall, please maintain six feet social distancing between family groups.  Masks are welcome to be worn but are not required.  Also, the live stream will continue to be shown and this space remains available for anyone who needs to step away during the service.  –  Council

HYMN/SONG REQUESTS, ANYONE?  Even though “social distancing” has made it a challenge to stay connected, please be assured that you have not been forgotten!  Choir members and other musicians would be happy to serenade you with a hymn or song that’s meaningful to you, even if over the phone.  Contact Barbara Boertje DeVries with ideas, requests, and/or for encouragement!

LIVE VIDEO: During this morning’s service a live video with audio of the service is projected on a large screen TV in the Fellowship Hall in the basement for parents or others who need to leave during the service.  Restrooms are available downstairs.  Our services are also live streamed and recorded each Sunday on YouTube, bit.ly/Pella2.

THE BACKPACK PROGRAM provides nutritious food for the weekend for local students who are food insecure (may not know where their next meal is coming from) so that students can return to school on Monday ready to learn.  The committee is collecting donations from local churches to help cover the number of students who need this assistance.  Second CRC has been asked to donate single serve packages of oatmeal.  A collection box is located near the front entrance and donations will be accepted through October 25.  Please contact Katie Magnussen at kathrynmagnussen@gmail.com or 563-260-2190 with any questions.

OFFERING:  Our offering today will go to the “Bible League International”.  Our offering October 18 will go QR Codeto “World Renew -World Hunger”.   Undesignated cash or check offerings go towards the mission or organization of the week.  If you desire to contribute to Second Christian Reformed Church and its ministries, simply write “Pella 2” on the memo line of your check.
