The bread that we break is a sharing in the body of Christ.

We who are many are one body, for we all share the same loaf.

The cup for which we give thanks is a sharing in the blood of Christ.

The cup that we drink is our participation in the blood of Christ.

Congregation of Jesus Christ, the Lord has prepared his table for all who love him and trust in him alone for their salvation.  All who are truly sorry for their sins, who sincerely believe in the Lord Jesus as their Savior, and who desire to live in obedience to him as Lord are now invited to come with gladness to the table of the Lord.

Holy Father, in thanks for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, in the joy of his resurrection, in the hope of his coming again, we present ourselves a living sacrifice and come to the table of our Lord.

TODAY: Welcome to Worship!  We welcome all who worship with us today!

Fellowship coffee is served downstairs at 9:00 a.m.

This morning we look forward to partaking of the Lord’s Supper on World Communion Sunday.  We joyfully anticipate receiving the benefits of Christ’s salvation as we receive the bread and cup in faith.  If you have put your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and are seeking to faithfully follow him, you are welcome to join us at the table.

C4C (Children for Christ) meets this morning on 3rd floor. Children 3 years old-PreKindergarten will be dismissed during the service.  Visitors are also welcome!  Parents may pick up their child after the service. Today’s leader is Melissa Tukker.

We invite visitors and members of the congregation to a Fellowship Coffee downstairs after the morning worship service.

Church School Classes will meet from 10:50-11:35.

At 6:00 p.m. a worship service of praise and gratitude will be held at our church, hosted by KCWN Radio staff, including Bev De Vries and others, a message by Pastor Steve Heerema from Newton Church of The Way, and music by Pella II’s Adult Choir, Worship Team and you, the congregation!

NEXT SUNDAY:  At 6:00 p.m. Connect Church will join us at our church.  Pastor John Ritsema will preach on “Yahweh Nissi”  The Lord is My Banner.

OUR CHURCH FAMILY: We wish a happy birthday to Mae Vander Wiel who will celebrate her 90th birthday on October 11 and to Joann Verhey who will celebrate her 86th birthday on October 12, and pray for God’s continued blessings.

FROM THE COUNCIL:  A special Congregational Meeting was held on Monday, September 30, to vote on the motion from the Council that we change our name.  The vote passed 49 to 27, needing only a simple majority.   The next step in the process will be the formation of a Name Change Task Force.  If you would like to be a part of this team, please contact a member of Council.  The Name Change Task Force will gather name ideas from the congregation, add their own thoughts, and bring a list of top names, with their reasoning for each name, to the Governing Board.

BABY GIFTS:  There is a table located downstairs for anyone who wishes to bring a baby gift to welcome Chloe Sue, daughter of Calvin and Stephanie Roose, born September 11, and Ella Joan, daughter of Steven and Kala Talsma, born September 18. – Sponsored by the Quilting Small Group

FREEDOM HOUSE will be at Pizza Ranch Monday, October 7, 5:00-7:30 p.m.  5% of each guest check, plus tips, will go back to Freedom House.  They want to pay off their mortgage before opening in November.  Please come and support.

ADVANCE NOTICES:

Our Cadet Club will be hosting its annual Pork Patty BBQ on Wednesday, October 16, from 5:00-6:30 p.m.  The menu includes pork patty sandwiches, hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad, chips, desserts, and beverages.  Free will donations will be accepted.

A Walk to Remember: Empty Cradle invites you to A Walk to Remember Sunday, October 13, at 3:00 p.m. at Scholte Church in Pella Historical Village.  Empty Cradle supports and connects families who have lost a baby due to miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death.  For more information, call Hospice of Pella at 641-620-5050.

ADMISSIONS DIRECTOR OPENING: Pella Christian Grade School and High School have an immediate opening for a full-time Admissions Director.  The Admissions Director is responsible for representing and marketing PCGS and PCHS to parents, prospective parents, and community to bring in new students and retain current students. This includes managing the entire admission process and events from initial inquiry to enrollment to integration into the school. Mr. Te Grotenhuis would be happy to have a conversation with interested parties or make contact with potential applicants.
