Fellowship coffee is served downstairs at 9:00 a.m.

We invite all visitors and all members of the congregation to a Fellowship Coffee downstairs immediately after the morning worship service.

There will be a Council Chat in the sanctuary right after the morning service.

Church School will meet from 10:50-11:35 a.m.

4:00-4:45 p.m. – Choir Rehearsal for Reformation Day service the evening of October 29 at Calvary CRC. Additional rehearsals at Pella II are Sundays, October 15 and 22.

4:45-5:30 p.m. – Choir Rehearsal for Christmas musical, Morning Star, to be presented December 2 and 3. Additional Sunday rehearsals are October 15 and 22.

At 6:00 p.m. First CRC will join us for worship. Pastor Dale Slings will continue the series on the Apostles’ Creed — “He descended into hell.”

NEXT SUNDAY: Reformation Day choir rehearsal will be from 4:00-4:45 p.m.

Christmas Musical choir rehearsal will be from 4:45-5:30 p.m.

At 6:00 p.m. Faith CRC, First CRC and Second CRC will join for worship at Second CRC. Pastor Dale Slings will continue the series on the Apostles’ Creed.

OUR CHURCH FAMILY: Alice Zylstra is in Iowa Methodist Hospital this weekend to remove blood clots in her right leg and to remove toes affected by lack of blood circulation. We ask for God’s healing mercies for Alice.

Dorell Uitermarkt sustained surgery this past Thursday evening at Iowa Methodist Hospital to remove a tumor from his colon. The doctor was pleased with how the surgery went. Pray for renewed strength for Dorell.

We wish a happy birthday to Mae Vander Wiel who will celebrate her 88th birthday on October 11, and to Joann Verhey who will celebrate her 84th birthday on October 12, and pray for God’s blessings.

Congratulations to Casey and Vanessa (King) Kloosterman on their marriage on Saturday, September 30. May God guide and bless them in their lives together. They will be living in West Des Moines.

MONDAY: Perk Up will meet at 9:00 a.m. at Happy Joes. All ladies are welcome.

The Bible League Fall Continental Breakfast will be held at Grace Fellowship at 9:00 a.m. on October 9. Please join us to hear Bruce Van Dusseldorp share about his work in Uganda.

TUESDAY: The Pella Christian High School Music Department will premier its large performing ensembles at the annual Fall Concert on October 10 at 7:00 p.m. The band and choirs will perform a variety of music in the school auditorium. Come and enjoy the musical gifts of our Pella Christian High School students. A bake sale will also be held before and after the concert. The sale will begin at 6:00 p.m., with all proceeds going to the Music Department.

WEDNESDAY: The Quilting Small Group will meet at 9:00 a.m. in the church basement. New members are welcome! Call Karen Spencer (628-1143) for more information.

Christian Fellowship Hour will meet at 1:30 p.m. to discuss Lesson 3 in the study book on Luke. All ladies are welcome!

Kingdom Kids will meet from 5:30-6:50 p.m.

Children’s Choir rehearsal from 6:30-6:55 p.m.

GEMS will meet from 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Cadets will meet from 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Hearthstone Soup Supper on October 11 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. at Fair Haven East’s Dining Room. Delicious homemade soups, loose meat sandwiches and Fair Haven East’s famous pies! Order whole pies or place a take-out order by calling 628-1244. All proceeds to support the Good Samaritan Program at Hearthstone in Pella.

SATURDAY: The Pella Christian High Eagle Football team is hosting a pancake breakfast on October 14 at the high school. Pancakes, sausage, cinnamon rolls and drinks will be served from 7:30-10:00 a.m. Free-will donations will help fund the football program. Thank you for your support!

TODAY’S OFFERING is for the Nairobi Transformational Network (NTN), which Pastor Wang’ombe presented last Sunday. NTN is in need of a vehicle to assist them in carrying out their ministry in Nairobi, Kenya. Presently, they rely on public transportation which does not reach many areas of the city. Today’s offering will be designated to help NTN purchase a vehicle.

C4C LEADER SIGN-UP: There is a sign-up sheet downstairs for those that would like to lead or help with C4C throughout the year. There is very little prep involved, and anyone, middle school age or older, is welcome to take a turn!

UPDATE FROM THE PECKHAM’S: As noted in the letter in your mailbox from the Peckham’s, Lloyd’s stepdad Doyle Nystrom passed away on October 1. A memorial service to celebrate his life was to be held at Northpoint Evangelical Free church in Corona, California, on Saturday, October 7 at 10:00 a.m.

Pathways of Pella invites you to join them October 21 for their annual Fall Fundraising Banquet. The event is free (opportunity for financial support will be given) and will be held at Grace Fellowship beginning at 6:00 p.m. This year’s event will be an opportunity to hear about the exciting changes taking place at Pathways of Pella. It is a casual event with a barbeque theme. Reservation deadline is October 16. PCHS’s theatre season opens with one of Broadway’s most popular musicals, Les Misérables, to be performed on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, October 26-28 at 7:00 p.m. in the Vermeer Auditorium at PCHS. Les Mis is an epic and uplifting story about the survival of the human spirit, and the themes of redemption and forgiveness are still what make Les Mis so important today. Tickets will go on sale October 16. Adult tickets are $10 and $6 for children.

THANK YOU: The Pella Community Food Shelf would like to thank you for partnering with us in collecting school supplies for the many children whose families visit the food shelf. Summer can be such a hardship for the parents with school-age children. With your help we were able to hand out supplies to 130 children. PELLA CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL is seeking an Assistant Principal/Social Studies Teacher for the 2018-19 school year. Candidates should have administrative licensure as well as teaching credentials in the field of social studies. This position includes curriculum leadership as well as other administrative duties.
