TODAY: Welcome to Worship!  We welcome all who worship with us today!

Fellowship coffee is served downstairs at 9:00 a.m.

We invite visitors and members of the congregation to a Fellowship Coffee downstairs after the morning worship service.

All 7th-12th graders interested in using their musical (instrumental and/or singing) talents in worship are invited to meet with Barbara Boertje DeVries in the sanctuary 10 minutes after the service ends this morning (get your cookie first!), for 15 minutes!

At 6:00 p.m. we will join Connect Church (formerly First CRC) and Faith CRC at Faith CRC for worship. Al Bandstra will preach on The Great Commandment.

NEXT SUNDAY:  At 6:00 p.m. we will join Connect Church (formerly First CRC) at Connect Church for worship.  Pastor Paul Bradford will preach the first in the series of the Names of God.

MONDAY:  Perk Up will not meet due to Labor Day.

Family Fun Fest will be from 10:00 a.m. to noon.  Come and join us as we kick off our youth programs for the new season with lots of fun outdoor activities on the church lawn. There will be an inflatable obstacle course, mini golf, a race track, and other lawn games and snacks.  We’d love to have you come, and invite all your friends and neighbor kids to join us too.

WEDNESDAY:  Adult Choir rehearsal, 7:00-8:30 p.m.!  New members welcome!  See Barbara Boertje DeVries for details.

FROM COUNCIL:  The Council is requesting the congregation to submit nominations for elders and deacons for the next Council term.  Names can be given to any Council member before the September 9 Council meeting.

COUNSELOR OPPORTUNITY:  GEMS is looking for one or two more counselors to help on Wednesday nights September through March.  Please contact Katie Magnussen at kathrynmagnussen@gmail.com with any questions or interest.

Mark your calendars:  Pella II church picnic is Sunday, September 15, at Caldwell Park in Pella.  There will be a dedication ceremony for the new church building following the picnic. More details to follow.

It’s almost here!  Register today for the Bible League Volunteers for the “His Plan…Our Purpose” retreat on Thursday, September 12 from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Calvary CRC.  Among the guest speakers is author and former Mrs. Nebraska USA, Pam Schram.  She will encourage you with humor, joy, and inspiration.  Registration brochures are on the table in the narthex. Pella Christian High Alumni Football Night – This is an invitation to all PCHS alumni to attend the home football game against Regina of Iowa City on September 13 at 7:00 p.m.  You will receive some freebies at the gate including a complimentary concessions food coupon.

INVITATION TO SING IN THE MALE CHORUS:  We are about to embark on the 50th season of the Gospel Singers Male Chorus.  Our theme this year goes along with our legacy – Find Us Faithful.  We invite all men who have a desire to sing God’s praises to join us on the evening of Saturday, September 14, at 7:00 p.m. in Oskaloosa First Christian Reformed Church, 815 N. 11th Street.  We have a great selection of songs centered around our theme.  We’re asking members present and past to find a friend and invite him to the first rehearsal.  See you all there!  For more information, call our director Gary Verhoef at 641-628-9593.

FREEDOM HOUSE TRAINING FOR VOLUNTEERS:

– Spiritual Training (highly recommended) – September 3, 10, 17, October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29; 6:30-8:30 p.m.

– Reality of Trafficking/Ministry to the Girls – September 7; 9:00 a.m.-Noon

– Deescalating Training – October 3 and 10; 5:00-8:00 p.m. (must be able to attend both nights, and limited seats).

HOSPICE VOLUNTEER TRAINING:  Hospice of Pella will have a six-week volunteer training class on Tuesday evenings, September 24-October 29, 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the Comfort House meeting room.  To sign up, or for more information, call Hospice of Pella at 641-620-5050.  Volunteers donate their time in service of those Hospice of Pella serves by reading to patients, weeding the garden or running errands for a hospice patient in their home, etc.  All hospice volunteers are required to complete the training class.

CRC NEWS AND PRAYER ITEMS

How could you encourage the students in your family or your church this week?  You might bake cookies, share a favorite book, send a card.  And pray for them as they discover the gifts God has given them and explore how God might be calling them to use those gifts.
