TODAY: Welcome to Worship! We welcome all who worship with us today.

Fellowship coffee is served downstairs at 9:00 a.m.

We invite all visitors and all members of the congregation to a Fellowship Coffee downstairs immediately after the morning worship service.

Church School begins the new season today. Classes will meet from 10:50-11:35. A brochure with class lists and room assignments is in your mailbox.

This evening at 6:00 p.m. First CRC and Second CRC will join for worship at First Christian Reformed Church. Pastor Brad Meinders will preach on the first statement of the Apostles’ Creed — “I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.” The offering will be for Bethany Christian Services.

NEXT SUNDAY: Next Sunday at 10:00 a.m. we will have combined services with First CRC and Grace Fellowship at First Christian Reformed Church. Matt Rogers, the merger consultant will be preaching.

Church School will not meet next Sunday, September 17, due to the morning combined service and our afternoon church picnic.

The Annual Church Picnic will be held September 17. Lunch will start at 12:30 p.m. at Cordova Park, followed by our worship service. Come and enjoy a meal already prepared for you along with praise and worship out in God’s creation!   If you would like to ride the church van to and from the picnic, please let a driver or council member know. Also, for those able to park a bit farther from the shelter house we would ask that you do so, leaving some of the closer spots for those who would really appreciate that convenience. Please bring your own chair to use during worship; dinnerware will be provided.

A joint Council meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. at First Christian Reformed Church.

College Planning Night – parents of juniors and seniors at Pella Christian High School are invited to a presentation and question/answer session about navigating the college admission and financial aid process. This information will be especially valuable for parents who have had no experience with the process previously. We will meet in the school library at 7:00 p.m.

WEDNESDAY: Christian Fellowship Hour starts its new season at 1:30 p.m. We will be studying the book of Luke. Laura Branderhorst will be leading us. All ladies are welcome and encouraged to join us! Ladies, the study book can be picked up in the kitchen today and they will also be available at our Wednesday meeting.

Children’s Choir (1st-6th grade) rehearsal, 6:30-6:55 p.m.

GEMS will meet from 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Cadets will meet from 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Adult Choir rehearsal, 7:00-8:30 p.m.

CLASSIS CENTRAL PLAINS will meet at Prairie City Christian Reformed Church on Friday, September 15 at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, September 16 at 8:00 a.m.

Joel Vander Molen will be examined at Classis for licensure to exhort on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. Please remember him in your prayers this week as he prepares and that he will do well in the examination. You are invited to show your encouragement with your presence at 8:00 a.m. at Prairie City CRC.

KINGDOM KIDS: Over the next couple weeks there will be a signup sheet in the basement for Kingdom Kids. Kids from 4 years old through 1st grade are invited to join in the fun on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:50 p.m. Please contact Arlys Veenstra at 641-780-1967 if you have any questions.

CADET COUNSELOR NEEDED: Cadets are in need of another counselor to assist with the Junior Cadet Cadre. Please contact Shane Tukker at 303-827-4085 for additional information or if you are willing to help in this area.

CHILD CARE NEEDED: A new season of choir is underway and, with excitement, we anticipate the participation of some young parents, but child care assistance is needed. September 25 – Congregational Meetings to approve the Merged Church, 7:00 p.m.


Pastor Tom and Erin’s last Sunday with us will be September 24, so please plan to attend our 9:30 a.m. service, as well as our 6:00 service of Music and Praise that evening, followed by a reception to honor them.

In September, Pastor Paul Hoekstra, a former pastor in your church, will be celebrating the 35th anniversary of his ordination into the ministry in the Christian Reformed Church. We, at First CRC in Oskaloosa, will be observing this milestone in his life on September 17. We will be having a reception from 11:00-1:00, including a potluck lunch at 11:40. Please feel free to join us for the 9:30 service and/or during the reception time. We know this will be a special day in the life of Pastor Paul and Ellen.

New Family/Alumni Football Night: This is an invitation to all new families at PCHS and PCHS Alumni to attend the home football game against Mount Ayr Friday, September 22 at 7:00 p.m. ALUMNI: Sign in at one of the tables located by either entrance to receive a ticket for you and your spouse for free admission to the game. NEW FAMILIES: Will receive a letter of invitation from school and should sign in at one of the tables located by either entrance to receive tickets for free admission to the game for your entire family as well as two food vouchers for use at the concession stand. (Tickets and vouchers will be available until the end of the first quarter and are for use September 22 only.)

Fall Pella Games: Pella Christian High School is hosting their first All-School Class Reunion in conjunction with the Fall Pella Games on Saturday, September 30. The day will begin with a 5K Fun Run/Walk at the school campus. Breakfast and lunch will be served by Hy-Vee at the Pella Recreation Center Fieldhouse. Other activities include sand volleyball, pickleball, cornhole and dodgeball tournaments and inflatables for the kids! The evening meal will be catered by Bubbu Q’s BBQ.
