We invite visitors and members of the congregation to a Fellowship Coffee downstairs after the morning worship service.

There will be a Council Chat at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary.

Church School will begin the season today.  Classes will meet from 10:50-11:35.  A brochure with class lists and room assignments is in your mailbox.  Children 3 years-Grade 5 will meet on 3rd floor for singing before going to their room.

At 6:00 p.m. we will join Connect Church (formerly First CRC) and Faith CRC at Connect Church.  Pastor John Ritsema will preach on The Name of God,  Yahweh – I Am.

NEXT SUNDAY: Next Sunday morning the congregation will be blessed with the joy of witnessing the baptism of Mason Samuel Yoder, son of Jon and Nicole Yoder, and of Lane Henry Boender, son of Kurt and Emily Boender. May God be praised for His covenant faithfulness!

At 6:00 p.m. Connect Church (formerly First CRC) and Faith CRC will join us at our church.  Pastor Brad Meinders will preach on The Name of God,  Yahweh Rapheka – The Lord Who Heals You.

OUR CHURCH FAMILY: We extend our Christian sympathies to the family of Bette Kelderman, who passed away on September 18, and to the family of Mildred Van Maanen, who passed away on September 18. We rejoice in the hope of everlasting life in Jesus Christ.

We wish a happy birthday to Lois Klyn who will celebrate her 86th birthday on September 26, and pray for God’s continued blessings.

We rejoice at the birth of a healthy girl, Ella Joan, on September 18 to Steven and Kala Talsma.  We thank God for this great gift!

FROM THE COUNCIL:  In recent meetings the Council has discussed a potential name change for Pella II.  As part of that process the Council has planned two meetings to discuss the rationale behind a name change as well as the steps involved. The rational is explained in the important informational letter which was put in your mailboxes. These meetings will be held in the Fellowship Hall on September 24 and 26, both at 7:00 p.m.

At our last meeting, the Council voted unanimously to bring to the congregation a motion that we change our name.  There will be a Congregational Meeting held on September 30 at 7:00 p.m. to vote on that motion.  Please note that this vote is not to change our name to any specific name at this time.  Rather it will initiate the process as outlined in the informational letter mentioned above.

A PICNIC THANK YOU:  Thanks to all who came last Sunday to Caldwell Park on such a beautiful day!  To those who gave of their time and talents to help set up, prepare the meal, serve the food, lead in worship, and clean up, we are ever grateful.  We hope everyone had a wonderful experience.

Come and support the Pella Christian Football Breakfast on Saturday, October 5, serving from 7:30-10:00 a.m.  Anyone can join us for a great family breakfast and visit with the players.  They are serving pancakes, sausage, cinnamon rolls and beverages.  Free-will donation for the Eagle football team fundraiser.  Fun, fellowship and great food.

FROM PELLA FOOD SHELF:  “Dear Second Christian Reformed Church, The Lord has blessed us once again with your congregation’s generous donation of school supplies.  The need for school supply bags was greater this year, up by 28. We  made and distributed 165 school supply bags for students in Pella and the surrounding area.  The families are so appreciative in receiving the school supplies that it is expressed over and over again.  Please know that you have made an impact in these families’ lives. THANK YOU!  Psalm 33:5 “He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.”

PATHWAYS BOARD MEMBERS NEEDED:  Prayerfully consider committing to serve on Pathways of Pella Board to be a faithful counsel.  The board meets one Thursday evening per month. Please contact annette@pathwayspella.org or call 641-780-8067 to learn more about the opportunity.

FROM PEORIA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL:  We are asking if someone could help our school on Tuesday afternoons from 1:00-2:30 for the pre/k-kinder classroom.  We have this specific day and time that is a need, so if this is something that you could commit to, please email principal@peoriachr.org. HOSPICE VOLUNTEER TRAINING:  Hospice of Pella will have a six-week volunteer training class on Tuesday evenings, September 24-October 29, 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the Comfort House meeting room.  To sign up, or for more information, call Hospice of Pella at 641-620-5050.  All Hospice volunteers are required to complete the hospice volunteer training class.
