TODAY: Welcome to Worship! We welcome all who worship with us today.

Fellowship coffee is served downstairs at 9:00 a.m.

We invite all visitors and all members of the congregation to a Fellowship Coffee downstairs immediately after the morning worship service.

Pick up a copy of the 6-month financial report after the morning service in the Deacon’s Room. You are welcome to stay for a time of discussion at 11:00 a.m. This will be your chance to ask questions or share concerns.

This evening at 6:00 p.m. First CRC, Second CRC and Faith CRC will join for worship at First Christian Reformed Church. Pastor Tom Dykman will preach on the biblical character Abraham. The offering will be for Joshua Christian Academy.

NEXT SUNDAY: Church School will begin the season next Sunday, September 10. Classes will meet from 10:50-11:35. A brochure with class lists and room assignments will be in your mailbox that morning.

Next Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. First CRC and Second CRC will join for worship at First Christian Reformed Church. Pastor Brad Meinders will preach on the first statement of the Apostles’ Creed — Father and Creator.

MONDAY: Perk Up will NOT meet this week because of Labor Day.

WEDNESDAY: Children’s Choir (1st-6th grade) 6:30-6:55 p.m.

GEMS will have their Camping Kickoff party from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at 656 195th Ave., Pella. We’ll meet for a campfire, games and crafts. Hotdogs, s’mores and snacks will be provided. We invite all interested girls between 2nd and 8th grade to attend!

The Cadets will be holding their annual kickoff party September 6 at 6:30 p.m. All Cadets and their families are invited to the north shelter house at West Market Park for food and games.

YOUNG ADULTS/FAMILIES GET-TOGETHER: All young adults and their families are invited to a gathering at Kiwanis Park this Friday, September 8 at 6:00 p.m. Pizza will be provided. Please bring your own drink, lawn chairs and a snack to share (optional). Any new people are invited and encouraged to come for games and fellowship. Please RSVP to Allison Van Wyngarden at 641-204-1171 by September 7.

KINGDOM KIDS: Over the next couple weeks there will be a signup sheet in the basement for Kingdom Kids. Kids from 4 years old through 1st grade are invited to join in the fun on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:50 p.m. Please contact Arlys Veenstra at 641-780-1967 if you have any questions.

MEN’S ENSEMBLE: Any men interested in singing in the Men’s Ensemble for our September 10 morning worship service, please practice with us this Wednesday, 8:00-8:30 p.m.

CHILD CARE NEEDED: A new season of choir is underway and, with excitement, we anticipate the participation of some young parents, but child care assistance is needed. GEMS LEADERSHIP OPENING: Do you have a heart for mentoring and encouraging young girls in their walk with Christ? SEPTEMBER 17: At the morning joint service on September 17, Matt Rogers, the merger consultant, is now scheduled to preach instead of Pastor Tom.

TIMELINE FOR THE MERGER PROCESS:

September 11 – Joint Council Meeting to present the Merged Church as Envisioned by the Vision Teams followed by a vote by the Individual Councils.

The following dates are based off of a positive vote by the three Councils:

September 18Joint Congregational Conversation to Present and Discuss the Merge Church Proposal. This will start at 7:00 p.m. Location is to be determined.

September 23Joint Congregational Conversation to Present and Discuss the Merge Church Proposal. This will start at 9:30 a.m. Location is to be determined.

September 25 – Congregational Meetings to Approve the Merged Church.

ADVANCE NOTICES:

Pastor Tom and Erin’s last Sunday with us will be September 24, so please plan to attend our 9:30 a.m. service, as well as our 6:00 service of Music and Praise that evening, followed by a reception to honor them.

College Planning Night: On Monday, September 11, parents of juniors and seniors at Pella Christian High School are invited to a presentation and question/answer session about navigating the college admission and financial aid process. This information will be especially valuable for parents who have had no experience with the process previously. We will meet in the school library at 7:00 p.m.

Have you sent in your reservation for the retreat, hosted by Bible League International Volunteers, at Calvary Christian Reformed Church on September 14? The deadline to register is this Tuesday, September 5. There will be a unique opportunity to give an offering to provide Bibles to Africa. You won’t want to miss hearing Jennie Afman Dimkoff speak and a mini concert by Barbara Boertje DeVries and Phyllis De Vries.

In September, Pastor Paul Hoekstra, a former pastor in your church, will be celebrating the 35th anniversary of his ordination into the ministry in the Christian Reformed Church. We, at First CRC in Oskaloosa, will be observing this milestone in his life on September 17. We will be having a reception from 11:00-1:00, including a potluck lunch at 11:40. Please feel free to join us for the 9:30 service and/or during the reception time. We know this will be a special day in the life of Pastor Paul and Ellen.

New Family/Alumni Football Night: This is an invitation to all new families at PCHS and PCHS Alumni to attend the home football game against Mount Ayr Friday, September 22 at 7:00 p.m. ALUMNI: Sign in at one of the tables located by either entrance to receive a ticket for you and your spouse for free admission to the game. NEW FAMILIES: Will receive a letter of invitation from school and should sign in at one of the tables located by either entrance to receive tickets for free admission to the game for your entire family as well as two food vouchers for use at the concession stand. (Tickets and vouchers will be available until the end of the first quarter and are for use September 22 only.)

Fall Pella Games: Pella Christian High School is hosting their first All-School Class Reunion in conjunction with the Fall Pella Games on Saturday, September 30. The day will begin with a 5K Fun Run/Walk at the school campus. Breakfast and lunch will be served by Hy-Vee at the Pella Recreation Center Fieldhouse. Other activities include sand volleyball, pickleball, cornhole and dodgeball tournaments and inflatables for the kids! The evening meal will be catered by Bubbu Q’s BBQ.
