WELCOME:  The Council welcomes Zach and Stacia Veenstra as members of our congregation.  Their transfers of membership from First CRC in Oskaloosa and Prairie Lane CRC in Omaha, NE, were received and accepted with thanksgiving.  We pray for God’s blessings upon their family.

WEDNESDAY:  Christian Fellowship Hour starts its new season at 1:30 p.m. in the church basement. Pastor Paul will be leading us.  All ladies are welcome and encouraged to join us!

Adult Choir will practice 7:15-8:15 p.m. New members are welcome! Please contact Barbara Boertje (worship@pella2crc.org) for more information.

BABY GIFTS:  There is a table located in the entryway for anyone who wishes to bring a baby gift to welcome David Alexander, son of Dave and Ashley Voss, born August 21. – Sponsored by the Quilting Small Group

PARENTS:  A live video with audio of our service is being projected on a large screen TV in the Fellowship Hall in the basement.  If you have a restless child or an infant who needs attention, please feel free to go downstairs.  You’ll be able to watch and hear everything that’s happening in the Worship Center.  Even if you’re not a parent and just need to move around, you are welcome to come down and watch as well.

PELLA CORPORATION MATCHING GIFTS:  Pella Corporation’s Rolscreen Foundation has approved our building project as a qualified matching gift program for employees and retirees!  Gifts given between June 9, 2020, and June 9, 2023, will be eligible.  Please contact Corey Magnussen for additional information.

OFFERING:  Our offering today will go to the “Rehoboth Christian School”.  Our offering September 13 will go to the “General Fund”.   Loose change and undesignated checks go towards the mission or organization of QR Codethe week.  If you desire to contribute to Second Christian Reformed Church and its ministries, simply write “Pella 2” on the memo line of your check. You can also give online by scanning the QR code to the right or by going online to pella2crc.breezechms.com/give/online.

For those not in attendance for any reason, the below options will remain available:

  1. Online – By logging into Breeze and clicking “Give Now” any member can donate through ACH transfer or Credit/Debit Card.
  2. Mail – Checks may be mailed to the church (Second Christian Reformed Church, 609 East 1st St., Pella, IA 50219). Please indicate “Attention Deacons” on the envelope.
  3. Drop Off – Donations may be dropped off in the slot in the deacon door at the base of the NW stairs. The door on the southwest side of the church is planned to be open during office hours. Feel free to call ahead (628-2966) to make sure the door is unlocked.

REQUESTED ANNOUNCEMENT:

Pella Regional Health Center is conducting a Community Health Needs Assessment, and we would like to invite you to take part in an online survey. Please complete the survey at your earliest convenience by following this link: www.PellaHealth.org/CHNA/  The survey will be extended until September 18, 2020. Paper copies of the survey are available upon request. All responses will be confidential.

Information from this study will be used by Pella Regional Health Center to develop an implementation plan to improve the health of our community. The information gathered from the survey will give us a snapshot of community health and what members of the community think are the areas of greatest need.  Anyone is welcome to complete the survey so please share the link with employees, friends, neighbors and clients.

FROM WORLD RENEW:  Hurricane Laura made landfall in the southwest corner of Louisiana on August 27.  It is reported to be the strongest hurricane to hit in 164 years.  World Renew-Disaster Response Services is monitoring this disaster and making plans for long term recovery work.  Please pray for the families and communities affected by Hurricane Laura.  Also pray for DRS staff and volunteers and all disaster responders, as the coronavirus pandemic greatly complicates how to help.  DRS is accepting donations for Hurricane Laura.  Give online at worldrenew.net/hurricanelaura or send a check to World Renew, 1700 28th St., S.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49508-1407 with “Hurricane Laura” in the Memo line.
