You’ll be hearing about Life Groups this morning, and will have the opportunity to sign up today and next Sunday!

We invite visitors and members of the congregation to a Fellowship Coffee downstairs after the morning worship service.

At 6:00 p.m. we will join Connect Church (formerly First CRC) at Connect Church for worship.  Pastor Paul Bradford will preach the first in the series of the Names of God.

NEXT SUNDAYOn Sunday, September 15, the church picnic will be held at Caldwell Park (across from the tennis courts on University Street).  Come at about 11:45 for lunch and enjoy a meal already prepared for you, and then a worship service after everyone has finished eating. Please bring your own lawn chair to use during worship; dinnerware will be provided.  At the conclusion of the worship service we will carpool over to the site of the new building and have a short ground dedication.

At 6:00 p.m. we will join Connect Church (formerly First CRC) and Faith CRC at Connect Church.  Pastor Brad Meinders will preach on The Names of God, Abba – Father.

TUESDAY:  Out to Lunch (OTL) will begin meeting for the fall season this Tuesday, September 10, at 11:30 a.m. at the KCWN studio at 304 Oskaloosa Street.  We will enjoy pizza, fellowship and discussion about our upcoming Bible study.  All ladies are welcome to join us!

All-church prayer meeting at the parsonage from 6:30-7:30 p.m.  We invite all to join us to pray for the ministries and outreach of our congregation.  Note change of day.

WEDNESDAY:  Christian Fellowship Hour starts its new season at 1:30 p.m.  Pastor Paul will be leading us.  All ladies are welcome and encouraged to join us!

THURSDAY:  The Let’s Remember scrapbooking small group will meet in the church basement, 6:30-9:30 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  For more information contact Julie at 628-1303.

FRIDAY:  Pella Christian High Alumni Football Night – This is an invitation to all PCHS alumni to attend the home football game against Regina of Iowa City on September 13 at 7:00 p.m.  You will receive some freebies at the gate including a complimentary concessions food coupon.

FROM COUNCIL:  The Council is requesting the congregation to submit nominations for elders and deacons for the next Council term.  Names can be given to any Council member before tomorrow’s Council meeting.

ADVANCE NOTICES:

College Planning Night:  On Monday, September 16, parents of juniors and seniors at Pella Christian High School are invited to a presentation and question/answer session about navigating the college admission and financial aid process.  This information will be especially valuable for parents who have had no experience with the process previously.  We will meet in the school library at 7:00 p.m.

Ride for LIFE 2019 – On Saturday, September 21, join other motorcycle and car enthusiasts to raise money for Pathways of Pella.  Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.  Riders and drivers depart at 10:00 a.m. from the United Methodist Church parking lot, 1414 University Street, with a lunch stop at the Lake Ahquabi Beach Shelter House mid-way through the ride (just outside of Indianola). This meal is free for all registered riders/passengers. SUB SANDWICH SALE:   Peoria Christian School is selling Sub Sandwiches again. There are two options: Ham, Turkey, Swiss, & American Cheese on Hoagie Bun, or Ham, Pella Bologna, Swiss, & American Cheese on Hoagie Bun.  Cost is $3 per sandwich or 13 sandwiches for $36.  We are also selling Butter Braids & Cookie Dough. INVITATION TO SING IN THE MALE CHORUS:  We are about to embark on the 50th season of the Gospel Singers Male Chorus.  Our theme this year goes along with our legacy – Find Us Faithful.  We invite all men who have a desire to sing God’s praises to join us on Saturday, September 14, at 7:00 p.m. in Oskaloosa First Christian Reformed Church, 815 N. 11th Street.  We have a great selection of songs centered around our theme.  We’re asking members present and past to find a friend and invite him to the first rehearsal.  See you all there!  For more information, call our director Gary Verhoef at 641-628-9593.

HOSPICE VOLUNTEER TRAINING:  Hospice of Pella will have a six-week volunteer training class on Tuesday evenings, September 24-October 29, 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the Comfort House meeting room.  To sign up, or for more information, call Hospice of Pella at 641-620-5050.

THE PELLA COMMUNITY FOOD SHELF is seeking a few generous folks to add to their team!  Your time commitment can be two hours a month, once a month or even every other month, or more if you like!  We have ways to serve that can fit anyone’s schedule, age and gifts!

  • Wal-Mart pick up: Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 1:00-3:00 p.m. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more.  Best to have a partner.
  • HyVee pick up: Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, 8:00-9:00 a.m.
  • Setting up for Tuesday mornings – stocking nonperishables and other items. Perfect for families, youth groups or small groups as many activities can be done on a flexible schedule from Wednesday to Monday each week.
  • Helping at the shelf with clients sacking food, registration or some other tasks on Tuesday mornings, 7:45-9:30 a.m. or evenings 6:15-8:45 p.m. If you like people, this is the spot for you!
  • Sorting incoming donations: another activity great for families, youth groups or small groups. Can be done anytime!
