TODAY: Welcome to Worship!  We welcome all who worship with us today.

Fellowship coffee is served downstairs at 9:00 a.m.

We welcome the De Vries family — Dennis, his son Randy, daughter-in-law Jodi, grandchildren Colby and Georgia — who will lead us in worship through music this morning.

We invite all visitors and all members of the congregation to a Fellowship Coffee downstairs immediately after the morning worship service.

Pella II annual church picnic today.  Please come out to Caldwell Park in Pella following our morning worship and fellowship coffee.  A delicious lunch will begin between 11:45 and 12:00 noon.  Please come to worship our Lord, enjoy a good meal, and visit with many friends.  A short worship service with a meditation by Pastor Paul will follow lunch.  An offering will be taken for the General Fund. Ice cream will be served after the worship service.  Don’t forget your lawn chairs!  Parking:  Please be courteous of all, elderly or disabled, who may benefit by parking close to the shelter house at Caldwell Park.

Youth GroupCalling all high school students.  Meet this afternoon at church at 4:15 and we’ll join the “Rooted” group over at First Reformed Church.  Meeting time is 4:30-6:30 p.m.   If you need transportation or have any questions, call Brent Pierson at 641-780-3456.

At 6:00 p.m. we will join First CRC at Faith CRC for worship.  Pastor Paul will preach on John 8:31-59, I AM. The offering will be for Pella ProLife.

NEXT SUNDAY: Council Chat will be held next Sunday after the morning service.

Church School will begin the season next Sunday, September 16.  Classes will meet from 10:50-11:35.  A brochure with class lists and room assignments will be in your mailbox that morning.

At 6:00 p.m. we will join First CRC and Faith CRC at First CRC for worship.  Pastor Brad Meinders will preach on John 6:35. The offering will be for Hope Ministries.

Parents of juniors and seniors at Pella Christian High School are invited to a presentation and question/answer session about navigating the college admission and financial aid process on September 10.  This information will be especially valuable for parents who have had no experience with the process previously.  We will meet in the school library at 7:00 p.m.

TUESDAY:  Out To Lunch (OTL) Women’s Bible Study will be starting up again on September 11.  Please join us at the KCWN studio at 11:30 a.m. for lunch, fellowship and Bible study.  All ladies are welcome to join!  Please contact Bev De Vries or Allison Van Wyngarden with questions.

WEDNESDAY:  Children’s Choir (1st-6th graders) will meet 6:30-6:55 p.m.

GEMS will meet from 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Cadets will meet from 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Adult Choir will meet from 7:00-8:30 p.m.

THURSDAY:  The Let’s Remember scrapbooking small group will meet in the church basement, 6:30-9:30 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  For more information contact Julie at 628-1303.

KINGDOM KIDS SIGN-UP:  Do you have a 4-year-old through 1st grader that would like to join us on Wednesdays for Kingdom Kids?  This year we are learning about “What Jesus Means to Me” – worship, giving, stewardship, thankfulness, obedience, and sharing with others about Jesus – how we show Jesus we love Him and spread His love to others.  Your boys and girls will enjoy crafts, snacks and other activities.  We meet twice a month (schedule will be given) on Wednesdays, 5:30-6:50, in the big room on the third floor.  Sign-Up sheets are in the basement and in the foyer at the entry, or you can call/text Arlys at 641-780-1967 with your information.  Start date is September 19!  Arlys, Carla and Les are looking forward to seeing you!

MUSIC MINISTRY NOTES (Please see Barbara Boertje DeVries for details.):

Adult Choir’s second rehearsal of the fall will be this Wednesday, 7:00-8:30 p.m.  It’s not too late to join us!

Children’s Choir (1st-6th graders) will practice this Wednesday, September 12, 6:30-6:55 p.m.

Praise Bands – New and returning singers and instrumentalists are welcome!

Christmas Musical – This year our church will be sponsoring a community Christmas musical, as we’ve done the past two years.  Singers are encouraged to join us for our first rehearsal on Wednesday, October 3, 8:00-8:45 p.m.

DESSERT WITH THE BRADFORDS:  We would like to invite our new church family to have coffee and dessert with us at the parsonage in order to get to know everyone better and to hear your hopes and dreams for Pella 2. There are several “Dessert with the Bradfords” gatherings scheduled this fall, each will be on a Tuesday or Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30pm. Youths middle school and older are also welcome to join us. We have room for 12 adults or youths at each gathering. Please sign up in the narthex or in the basement for one of the evenings. Desserts currently scheduled include: September 18 & 20, October 2, 4, 11, 18, 23 & 25, November 1, 6 & 8. You can sign up as far in advance as you’d like, but please sign up at least by the Sunday before the event so that we can be prepared to welcome you. OFFERING OF SEPT. 30 EXPLANATION:  One way the PCGS Board provides tuition assistance to families is through the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP).  The board’s desire is that Christian Education be an affordable option for all families.  This program is available to all PCGS families and is needs-based assistance.  This year approximately $100,000 will be awarded to qualifying families.  To learn more about PCGS’s tuition assistance options visit www.pellachristian.net

ADVANCE NOTICES:

Christian Fellowship Hour will begin its season on September 19 (that is not this coming Wednesday but next week).

Hospice of Pella has scheduled the next six-week training classes for Thursdays, September 20-October 25, from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the Comfort House meeting room.  To sign up, or for more information call Hospice of Pella at 641-620-5050. Hospice of Pella volunteers are members of the community that donate their time in service of those Hospice of Pella serves — whether reading to a patient, weeding the garden or running much needed errands for a hospice patient in their home.  All hospice volunteers are required to complete the volunteer training class.

Intergenerational Worship Workshop in Sioux Falls, S.D. – Join Faith Formation Ministries at First CRC on September 29 from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. to learn about the importance of spiritual formation in the home.  Syd Hielema and Jill Friend will present on four important topics intended to help us strengthen both our families and church: connecting dots between worship, home and other church ministries; strengthening and growing an intergenerational (IGEN) leadership culture, naming and nurturing strengths already present in the congregation and faith storytelling ideas that will bless an IGEN culture.  Registration is free and lunch will be provided.  Learn more and register at network.crcna.org/faith-nurture/intergenerational-worship-workshop-sioux-falls-sd

Save the Date:  New Life Prison Community Church will be sponsoring a free Christian Concert on Saturday, October 13, at 7:00 p.m.  Jeff Arrandale Band will be playing at Grace Fellowship in Pella.  A free-will offering will be taken for New Life.

OPEN HOUSE AT THE WELL:  You are invited to an open house at The Well to learn about all of the resources and new programs available to community members.  Tour different resource booths, and hear about The Well’s vision moving forward, as the Lord continues to serve His people through The Well!  We hope you can join us this Thursday, September 13, between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. for light appetizers, and a brief program at 5:30 p.m. This is open to ANYONE interested in participating in a program, or learning more about the new programs being offered this fall.

SUB SANDWICHES:  Peoria Christian School is selling sub sandwiches again this year.  There are two types — Ham and Pella Bologna with Swiss and American cheese, or Ham and Turkey with Swiss and American cheese.  Sandwiches are $3 each or $36 for 13.  Along with the subs this year we are also selling Butter Braid pastries and Wooden Spoon cookie dough.  Orders are due Monday, September 10.  Orders can be emailed to emvangorp@iowatelecom.net or mvhart77@gmail.com or call the school (625-4131).  For questions on the Butter Braids or cookie dough contact Suzy Veenstra, 780-8856.
